Which Film Director do you trust to make a New Vegas Film?

Post » Mon Jul 11, 2011 5:49 pm

My choice would have to be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAj7SvktAEQ. I think he would have a blast with characters like Joshua Graham and Caesar. His filming style is usually non-linear so it would fit the non-linear story. He also likes to write his own scripts so he would make New Vegas his own, which is a good thing because he is an excellent writer.

He's been nominated 4 times for best director at the Academy Awards. Kind of a shame he never won since much lesser directors have received the award.
Also Lynch is very http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKiIroiCvZ0 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4wh_mc8hRE about the integrity of his films.

The chances for him doing it is probably small, since he demands total creative control of his films now.

Hm. Simple choice really.

I put my unequivocal trust in the legendary director Uwe Boll. As for who'd star in it? Bunch of guys from WWE and Ultimate Fighting. Lots of explosions too, maybe get Michael Bay on as a executive producer.

And of course make the movie completely forget there was ever a New Vegas game 15 minutes in, aside from beating the viewer upside the head with occasional high-intensity doses of lore. "Who are these freaks?" "They're the Fiends, chem-addicted gangers who pretty much rule the outskirts."

Seriously? Let's just not cheapen it any further with another lame videogame movie- safest choice overall.

I think some directors are good directors. But I only recall MAYBE it was one video game based film that worked and it was decent. Video Games and cartoons work well in their own reality, being made into Live Action Movies just doesnt work.

I agree. That's why I picked David Lynch. I would trust him 110% to make an amazing New Vegas film.

I like David Lynch, but this isn't his style. Now, if its wasn't during The Courier's time in the Mojave, that would be different as he could do it in a very Twin Peaks like style, with deep character studies and what not.

I think http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000233/ would be a much better choice if were doing this while The Courier is around. :goodjob:

Otherwise, the movie would best just not be made.

No offense, but I hate Tarantino's films. I probably would not even try to watch a New Vegas film if he made it. His dialogue writing is annoying, like he is trying too hard to make it cool.

I'll admit Tarantino can get a bit campy at times but that's usually only when he works with Robert Rodriguez. Reservoir Dogs? Masterpiece. He's also great at hyperviolence which, in my opinion, would have to be quite present in a film based off of Fallout. To be honest I'm not sure anyone could do it justice though.

Every video game based movie I've watched to date svcks out loud (even the one's Boll didn't direct). The directors always cut out just about every piece of the main plot in favor of material that'll appeal to the masses. After all, they make movies for the general population, not hardcoe fans.

May I ask which movie you are referring to? I was not aware such a thing existed.

However for the director I'd choose . . . No one. New Vegas shouldn't be made into a film and if a Fallout movie is ever created it should be a canon story that is all-new. Screenplay should be written by Christ Avellone. Though it won't happen.

L.Q Johns. He directed A Boy and His Dog, which the fallout gamed are influenced by. The Hughes brothers, if you've see the book of Eli they had a ton of the visual styles down. The movie kinda blew, but they didn't write it. No Tim Burton ever.

I was going to say something like that.

Only, what they should do is, for the story part, have someone else do the "directing" part.

Then, they give a rough background of what's going on to him, say "this is what just happened at these points, mkay? You got 5 minutes here, 15 minutes here, 5 here, and 20 minutes here. You get 20 additional seconds to wind things down, at the end of those time periods."

"Do 'stuff' ".

From then, they unleash the Michael Bay with full creative freedom upon those time frames.
Afterward, let the other directors do the whole making of the movie thing.

That would be more than acceptable to me.

Bethesda takes care of atmosphere, world, sffects and action

Obisidian takes the writting, scripiting, humor, scenes, VA casting, and drama

I don't really want a New Vegas movie to be made. But one director I'd be interested in especially for creating the world of Fallout on screen is Ridley Scott.

I shuddered

I feel the Fallout universe would work really well as a TV series. Just keep Joss Whedon away from it FFS

Quentin Tarentino for the win :celebration:

But I too feel that a T.V series will do better

Movie or T.V series Ron Pearlman should narrate, also I think it should be based on a area not covered by any of the games yet

Terry Gilliam for the true Fallout experience... Neill Blomkamp for the intended Bethesda experience; this would go for TES as well; though Guillermo Del Toro could be good for TES.

Michael Bay is not a director. Don't even pretend Michael Bay is a director. This is not an opinion, this is fact. Any man can tell a pyrotechnics/CGI team to blow [censored] up. That's not directing. If he does not direct, he is not a director.
