Which game to buy this October..

Post » Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:28 pm

Hey folks,

Alright, we all know how many awesome games are coming out this October, out of the above lists, I can only afford to get one. Although I genuinely want them all equally! I don't even care about reviews, I just wanna get em!

So tell me, fellas. Which one?

Renting is not an option in my region.

I can't tel you which one to get, but I can tell you which one I'm getting. Fallout: New Vegas.

Then again, my tastes are different than yours. I really like RPGs more than most other genres and Fallout: New Vegas is the deepest RPG out of the entire list. My second choice would be the Star Wars game- it seems like a decent Hack and Slash.

I think you get the biggest "bang for the buck" out of Fallout 3: New Vegas.

But it all boils down to personal preference and taste, of course.

Like 3-26 said, if you like RPGs, New Vegas is the way to go. It's also the game that will likely last you the longest from that list, with Fable III coming in second. And ignoring my extreme hatred for Ubisoft for a moment, I've got to admit that AC: Brotherhood looks pretty good. But if you can only get one, I'd definitely get New Vegas.

Itsa bethesda forum, NV will likely win, I have saved for both NV and fable 3 so luckily I dont have to choose, but if I did, fallout all the way, you get more hours out of that game than the others. Well except multiplayer, but enjoyment varies based on who you are playing with, and I tend to hate lots of people on multiplayer so I may be a bit biased.

I'm not too excited about any of those games, but if I should pick one I'd probably go for New Vegas, though AC: Brotherhood looks quite decent as well.

But whatever you do, do not buy TFU2. Everything I have read and seen of it indicates that it is totally going to svck, which is a shame since I loved the first one.

Spoiler
You are a clone of the main character, who died at the end of the last game. You start as a servant of Lord Vader (big surprise here), but you escape so you can fight Lord Vader again! It is like they deliberately took the worst of the worst of the Expanded Universe common story arches and mixed it with the original to create an unprecedented amount of svck.

And if all that wasn't bad enough, they force you to use two lightsabres, so not even awesome gameplay can make up for the terrible story.

TFU gameplay svcks, worst aiming system ever, and thats a terrible thing when you try to throw something at enemies only you pick up something that dosnt crush them...
I hated TFU gameplay, so much potential, and the unique destruction was BS. And the thing is they were already planning on making a umber 3 and 2 isnt even out yet, so its probabally a half assed game.

I'm not getting any of those, but if I had to get one, it would be F:NV easily.

I'm going to go with the flow where and say Fallout: New Vegas. Just seems the most bang for your buck.

Super Street Fighter 4
Fable 3
New Vegas
Brotherhood

I would like to put Sims 3 third but I dont buy EA and Activision games. Although I'm tempted to get Sims 3 and might have to break my boycott. Although I really dont want that EA logo or Activision logo in my games library.

Either Fallout: New Vegas or Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (it's not called AC2B, btw).

Don't get The Sims 3. It was a huge disappointment. If you want to play the sims, get sims 2. It is probably pretty cheap nowadays.

I've stopped buying games new (Full price.) but will always make an exception for Bethesda titles. (Publishing or developing. TES/Fallout related.) I always feel jipped with most games at full price, but never with Bethesda sandbox titles. Worth every penny, if not more. (But don't tell Bethesda that!!:P)

I intend to get F:NV on release day. So that would be my recommendation.

September 27th, 2012:
Today Bethesda revealed a new pricing strategy that they will be implementing with all future titles.

Bethesda's Todd Howard was quoted as saying "Well, we keep seeing all these other developers charging $60 for their 6-hour long FPSs, so we figured, hey, we should do the same! From now on all Bethesda developed titles will cost $10 per hour of gametime. The price for TES V will be set at $2,000."

Depeends, but i believe MoH doesnt look good enough, i thin its just the same as Bad Company without the destruction. Its out of Fable, Assassins Creed and Fallout.

I know if i dont pick fallout then i am going to get flamed like a flaming comet of flames.

The last games I purchased full price were Halo Reach (360) and Super Street Fighter 4(360). Then Borderlands (PC), GTAIV (PC) and Left 4 Die (PC)

Definitely Fable 3, I have been waiting and waiting since the game was announced.

I've been waiting for it since Fable 1.

Depends. Medal of Honor could get you more play time than Fallout New Vegas ever could. Because FNV is going to be a single player game, probably mostly like Fallout 3, worth only one long drawn out playthrough with anything other than that being bored. Same with Fable 3, although I expect the gameplay in Fable 3 to be more fun than FNV. Medal of Honor probably has a 6-10 hour single player, but if Dice do it right (like with BFBC2) the multiplayer in MoH could give you numerous amounts of hours.

Can't say much for the other games as I don't plan on playing them. In fact what I plan on buying is Two Worlds 2 and Fable 3. Might get MoH and FNV if I find they're worth the $7 I spend to rent them. Castlevania and Gothic 4 are also in that area. Truth is, October is gonna be a big month for games as you say, and the best is gonna lie in what you like to do. FPS multiplayer will give you more time than FNV, of course you might like what I find boring, so FNV could give you more time. Between FNV and Fable 3 it would depend on what type of RPG you like, and what setting it's in etc. I'm more akin to Fable 3, but that's just me.

If you have a good computer, then obviously get New Vegas for that!
So I voted Star Wars, Force Unleashed 2. Though if you don't have a good computer, then you may want New Vegas. Personally, I'm waiting to get New Vegas until I have a computer that can run it lol.
