i like the features in fallout new vegas, such as converting ammo, weapon mods, and aiming down sights.

but i like the atmosphere in fallout 3, theres barely any civilization, every place is pretty dangerous, and theres plenty of places to scavenge.

I have always felt Fallout 3 was better. So for the first time in months, I decided to pop the old game in and relive it's awesomeness. Though after endless hours of New Vegas, I just couldn't find myself as enthralled as I was a year and a half ago...

New Vegas has a way better combat system, and a lot more quests.
But F3 seemed to get me more involved. F3 wasn't has flashy as New Vegas, but it had more personality IMO. I got more attached to the characters and places felt more interesting.

But as I was trying to play F3 today, it just didn't feel the same anymore :cryvaultboy:
Maybe it's because I played it so many times, for so many hours, I know every quest and everything that's gonna happen.

There's still so much undone in the Mojave...

I'll say what I always say to my friends; I prefer Fallout 3's atmosphere, but I prefer New Vegas' features (such as hardcoe More, aiming down sights, etc.)

I was going to say the exact same thing. In Fallout 3 i ran into way more enemies wandering around, but New Vegas' hardcoe mode quests and weapon mods made New Vegas a solid game. I find myself playing Fallout 3 more than New Vegas, but that should change if New Vegas releases a Game of the Year edition like Fallout 3 did.

Which game do I prefer?

I would have to say New Vegas...

I loved Fallout 3, but after 300+ hours on my first playthrough ( most of which was spent exploring random repetitive buildinggs and farming exp from re-spawning raiders ) I found myself wishing for more narritive.

You know how a great game comes out and initaily your overjoyed by all coolness but over a period of time you can see ways the game could have been beter? You sort of develop a wishlist of things for the game?

New Vegas kinda fullfiled my wishlist that I had developed when I was playing FO3.

Oh as for time spent in each game :

I think about 330 hrs in Fo3 ( a large of which was spent as previously stated, I wanted to hit level cap before I progressed the main quest... hit 30 and had like two more missions snd the main quest was over ; ( nothing left to do really.... )

I'm at 227 hrs in NV.... dealt with benney, helped out the ncr a bunch been across the river, helped the BOS up to the point where they want me to join and completed OWB.

This would get less biased replies if you would've posted it in the Fallout Universe forum.

BTW: New Vegas. :disguise:

I love them both. They are both different, as they should be. The games are so huge, they have bugs. I deal with those and hope they don't ruin the immersion so I can feel part of the story. As soon as the next patch for FNV is done, I'm hoping it'll be more stable and some quests will be fixed. I seem to be CTD more now since the last patch. Even with all of that, I still love them both because they are great games with stories I can be involved in. :)
