I didn't thought i get so much attention with this thread but this is my biggest one so far.
My games that can compete with Skyrim are:
Witcher 2
Risen 2

but compete doesn't mean they are better, no it just means: the same league

In the RPG sector nothing for me. I can only really play RPGs in 1st person, I hate 3rd person and I think isometric view is a bit outdated. There are very few RPGs that have 1st person mode, actually I can't remember any good ones at all that were released during the last few years except for Bethesda games.

Other game types can't be compared imo. I love good online shooters and I'm very much looking forward to Brink (since I love Quake Wars and still play it a lot).

When I think about it Skyrim and Brink are the only two games I really look forward to this year so far.

I said in my eyes, and no I don't know much about the two games I mentioned, but I also don't like their style. It's not the game for me. So, "in my eyes" Skyrim wins.

No ifs and buts, but Skyrim will outshine every other game.

Based on what I've seen from the Trailer and heard from the interviews and how I feel about the open world games Bethesda is making, I can't imagine any other game outshining Skyrim. No one else is making games exactly like this...and these are the ones I can't stop playing.

Honestly, until a new console comes out, I think Skyrim will be the last 360 game I buy. I put well over 1000 hours into Morrowind, and played it exclusively for years, and that's without mods. Oblivion satisfied me for about 4 months... ya, we won't go there. But if Skyrim is as good as Morrowind, I don't think any other game can compete.

This year actually sets record for me in number of games I am longing for. In its genre, nothing gets close to TES and for that matter, skyrim, wicfh without a doubt is the game I would choose if I had to. And because Skyrim gets out I'm not even bothered about any other RPG.

Other games, that you cant compare with, would be HL2 ep3, dota 2, batman arkham city, portal 2 has already been released, and some other misc.

Dead Island seems good, and Battlefield 3. But those games won't keep me busy like Skyrim. I still play MO and OB today.

For some reason I have something against Dead Island. I'm sure it'll be an awesome game in its genre, but suddenly I felt like it got immoral. That trailer was way too sad, and it just made me feel like you have to be just evil to play the game. As in, really LOVE severing heads and watching persons getting eaten. It felt too real I suppose.

Skyrim will likely be a decent actionRPG, but there are upcoming games that likely will outshine it (at least in my eyes) - like Risen 2, The Witcher 2 and Deus Ex:Human Revolution.

I think skyrim will the best, but there are other games that are going to be great as well, just not on the scale of skyrim

I don't care what compete's with skyrim. will be my number one game of all time,i should imagine.I'll buy skyrim,whilst also keeping one eye on F1 2011,hopefully much improved from 2010.

It is my considered opinion that Skyrim is unique, with a style all its own. I really enjoy being able to create characters to my liking, and then role-play them in the unique sandbox that The Elder Scrolls provides. I haven't seen much else like it and find myself looking forward to 11-11-11.

That being said, I enjoy a vareity of games, and there are a small number of other games I intend to purchase within the next year.

Among those are:

The Witcher 2, Guild Wars 2, and the Tomb Raider (Survivor/Reboot) production (whenever published).

These games are all unique unto themselves, and I would not put them into competition with each other, because they are not really similar.

I imagine that this grouping will keep me occupied well into 2012, and perhaps beyond.

Everything I've seen about the Witcher 2, leads me to believe it doesn't stand a chance both critically and financially, against Skyrim in terms of success. The Combat/Character development video was a huge let down.

RAGE so far seems like the only contender, if that even counts, since they both bare the Standard of Bethesda Softworks, but granted, not a particularly large amount has been shown in-detail about RAGE, not as much as the Witcher 2 anyway. So it could wind up looking Sour.

Mass Effect 3, and mind you, I'm a huge Mass Effect fan, hasn't put out yet, in terms of Info. But judge judging from the rather small development cycle, I'm assuming it's going to be Mass Effect 2.5, more so than Mass Effect 3, which is amazing, but not even on the same tier as a new Elder Scrolls game.

Bethesda will read this and m'aiq will say something about this thread.

But seriously, I highly doubt there will be any game nearly as good as Skyrim. If Mass Effect comes out in 2012, Skyrim will win 9/10 of GOTYs, remember my words :sweat: (if not, then 60%)

I really look forward to Witcher 2, but nothing says it will be that cool anyway.

Mass Effect 3, Deus ex, both look to be pretty dang cool, and have a good chance to be just as good. Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 might be at it's equal, in their respective genres, from what I have seen, both look extremley polished and fun.

if Diablo 3 comes out this year(no idea about realese dates with this one at all), It would surely be on par with skyrim, I don't see how they could muck up Diablo(I hope they don't)

Portal 2, Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare 3, Brink...lol, Gears of War 3, Crysis 2, Killzone 3, Rage, Infamous 2, SKYRIM FTW...i think Skyrim will win but the rest will all be good 2011 games

Might sound a bit biased and such but to me the other games just don't interest me. Well, I was kind of excited for Mass Effect 3. But I've been growing a grudge for BioWare over the months.

KOAR is open world dude, its made primarily by Ken Rolston, so I wouldn't expect any other option really. It's coming in 2012 anyway, because they have said themsleves that the holiday season has too many well known RPGs coming out which they cannot risk to compete with, as they are a brand new IP.

No game this year will be better than Skyrim (My opinion!), but a few amazing games will come out which will be close, but nowhere near at the same time. These are:

Mass Effect 3
The Witcher 2
Uncharted 3
Battlefield 3
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Dark Souls

I just wish there was an open world fantasy RPG (be anyone and do anything) like Elder scrolls games coming out or recently released on consoles to tide me over until Skyrim comes out. But alas, I don't believe they exist, thus the 6 month wait for Skyrim continues.

None! Skyrim is actually going to be my only video game purchase of this year (besides Portal 2). Long live the Elder Scrolls! :tes:
