Hey guys don't get me wrong in my opinion Skyrim will be awesome but I thought about games that can compete with Skyrim and nothing crossed my mind. Really I played Dragonage on the PS3 and it was lame. After playing Oblivion I'm used to this standard and kind of Gameplay in RPG's but this is no topic about my opinion on Dragonage if you think it can compete with Skyrim list it. So now I ask you if there are any other game coming this year near this genre that have potential to compete with Skyrim.

I think Skyrim will outshine 99% of games, however The Wither 2 and ME3 will be amzing as well although very different. But Skyrim will stil lbe superior to both of these. I mean Skyrim is TES and TES is own it's own league :shrug:

Even if Dark Souls is 200% better than expected, it will only be about 15% as awesome as Skyrim, and those are the only two games I'm REALLY looking forward to this year.

Nothing that I'm interested in. I've heard Witcher 2 or Deus Ex Human are supposed to be good, but I don't know much about them.

In my eyes Skyrim wins GOTY hands down. TES games always win, and with good reason. I really don't think anyone can stand up to TES anymore. Not the way Bioware's doing now.

Heh, Games competing with Skyrim, you are silly. I can't think of any RPG, or game in general, as free as TES. And thats why its so great.

I enjoy a few game series' such as

Assassins Creed
Mass Effect
Dragon Age
Fable
GTA
Fallout

I also enjoy stand alone games such as

Red Dead Redemption
The Saboteur

But nothing has kept my attention like the elderscrolls. I mean I still revisit Morrowind from time to time, and Oblivion is still currently eating the majority of my gamming time. With only occational gaps when a new game is released in the abover series or a 3rd person adventure is released. But I will continue to return to Elderscrolls to fill the gaps.

Skyrim will take up through xmas 11 and well into summer 12 until I start to look around, but rest assured I will be returning after any new releases have been completed

The Witcher 2.

The only thing that even comes close in my opinion is ME3. Skyrim still wins out though. On top of everything else, this is a very good year for gamers.

That game can compete with other lesser titles, everything pales next to :tes:.

As an RPG, probably absolutely nothing, which is a shame, because so far Skyrim is looking to be a lot more FPS than RPG. As a primarily FPS game, there's a handful that might come somewhere close.

Dont want to swerve the origanl post, but why do you believe Skyrim ?is looking to be a lot more FPS??

Skyrim's already miles ahead of anything else I'm aware of. The Witcher 2 looks like it'll be great for what it is, but it doesn't offer what Skyrim offers.

Fallout is the only likely exception, but I consider that complementary rather than competition.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning(if it isn't open world)

Though let's be fair, as RPG fans we gobble up anything we can get with a fiery passion so Bethesda doesn't really need to worry about it.

minecraft............and im serious. i was poking around on one of the many sites and now they have a mod that has villagers who actually have kids. the kids grow up and expand the village. Noch has incorporated mod ideas into his betas so if hes taking even a fraction of the ideas ive seen from modders into his game it will be absolutely awesome when its done. there are also 128 and 256 texture packs that greatly improve the look of the game. basically think computer games late 90s graphics which is a huge improvement over default.

TES games are about the last great "true" RPG games around. Theres nothing wrong with more linear games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age, they have their places. But for me personally, nothing compares to TES games. Being able to do whatever you want and explore an enormous game world are some of my favorite things about them.


The Elder Scrolls: Often imitated, never duplicated.

There is no other open-world, first-person, fantasy RPGs out there other than Elder Scrolls. It has no competition.

Games that compare? hmm. Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblvion all come to mind, but i haven't beaten Arena. I guess FO3 and NV too.

Really though, nothing compares to TES
