Which mod are you most proud of?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:38 pm

I was looking at my profile on FO3Nexus, kinda thinking back to my modding days and looking forward to starting again with NV. And I found http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6368. I was looking through comments and looking at the pictures I put up and realized I'm actualy quite proud of that mod, I really like how it turned out and consider it my best work, apart from the unfinished Apocalypse Club which has potential to be pretty awesome, I'm planning on getting back to work on that for a New Vegas release actually.

So, to avoid this just being a topic for me to plug a mod I like, let's see which mod you are most proud of, provide a link if you want :)

EDIT: Damn, that was supposed to be "Which mod..." not "What mod..."

EDIT: Actually it might be a toss up between the one I linked and http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7880. I wrote a fiarly detailed backstory for the house on the computer that I was really pleased with, but unfortunately very few people noticed it or didn't download it, that's one mod I really want to get attention because I feel it adds a nice little bit of flavour text to the game and to Andale. It also works with the main quest of that area as it's basically just another clue to what's going on.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26219 for Oblivion above everything else. :P

For Fallout 3, I don't know. http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9418 is the most complicated, but http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14248 has a bigger impact on the atmosphere and is nice for every playthrough.

All of them. I am proud of all my mods simply because I made them.

I look at them and thing "I made that [censored]." And it puts a smile on my face every time.

The one that's not released but everyone wants and keeps trying to copy one way or another. That was such a great idea, wasn't it :hehe:

I don't know, really. Maybe my Shipwreck mod from Oblivion. It was made unique and different when two awesome modders helped me with some custom stuff.
For Fallout I haven't done much. I should say my follower mod, as that's the most time consuming, but I did followers in Oblivion and there was nothing to it. Easy to make.

All of them. I am proud of all my mods simply because I made them.

I think that's what everyone should be saying :)

Well I'm going to chime in here, the mod I'm most proud of is the only real mod I've ever made. "DCInteriors"! I'm not proud of it because I've made it but, because of how well it was received by the community.

When I started it, I thought I was the only one annoyed by the lack of explorable interiors. The community response has ben an incredible source of inspiration to keep plugging away and, adding more and more. The real props we modders should be giving is to the community! Yes, there are the Flamers, trolls and, A**Holes but, (from my experience) the majority of the community are interested in quality work. We as modders should be giving them props instead of looking for a pat on the shoulder.

After all, they are the ones who really use, test our work, give us inspiration to keep moving forward.

Edit: I forgot to say, I only hope when I start a new project for FNV, it will be as well received as DCInteriors has ben. :celebration:

Ok it's time for me to tell which one is my favorite child... all of them for different reasons:

The Camping Gear my very first mod is small, simple and functional. There is nothing special about it but I still reuse this items in newer mods of mine.
'Friendly New Neighbors' my second published one breaks with the Fallout 3 quest conventions and that is why I simply love it. It's my least endorsed one because of this, but for me it tells a great story and is a perfect introduction for...
'FNNCQ' my enslaving system. It was the fulfillment of the dream that I had as I played the game in the beginning. Enslavement not as a simple 'run to PF'. You have to care and fight for the survival of your slaves. I learned how to script NPCs from the bases from this mod and how to keep a mod compatible. Not an easy child to care for but that's why I like it.
'Sybills Secret' the mad doctor add on for FNNCQ brought me back to modding again after I was frustrated with constant updates for FNNCQ and after I wasn't able to finish my mods for continuing the story of 'Friendly New Neighbors'.
The 'Iguanas' where only a little test I made which has grown in a creature mod, that I had sworn I would never make. But this little fellows told me to get my head free from old concepts and simply try something new. That's why I like them.
And last but not least 'See you... It's bedtime!' pretty the same as with the Iguanas. It was only a idea how I could animate the player a post in the forum here and a lot of other ideas suddenly coming from the community. For a lot of them I saw a way to do it and at the end this little jewel (in !my! opinion) was done.

Sorry I simply love them all there is no favorite child.

This explains my feeling exactly. Only, my first ever mod (See signature, and yes, shameless plug) is not complete yet, but I feel this way so strongly with what I have done so far! I cannot wait to complete it.

My favorite is my only (fell-fledged) mod, Arms Race 2. But I'm very proud of it, as I put a lot of time and effort into it, and evened out a lot of problems. But I'm most proud of it because it is still in my load order, which is a difficult feat.

Carter Fallout Shelter, probably. I put a lot into making it look and feel lived-in, and having the notes and journal entries feel like a real person under a mountain of stress in that situation. The guy is a real jerk, actually... but I think comes across as a lot like someone in a 50's mindset would have. The others I am proud of because they were all [REQz] Requests I made, and then made myself when nobody else would :P

Obviously CALIBR is the one I get the most downloads of, probably 150-200k if you count that it's bundled with FWE and some others. It's not what you'd call creatively satisfying though. :)

As a true artiste I'm always dissatisfied with all my mods after I've released them. This is mostly because they're all learning experiences, so I know I could do it better now than I did. This is especially true of http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10375, but if I had to choose it would still be my favourite.

If I did a time spent vs use gotten out of it calculation I think my http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8787 would win though. :)

Well, I really enjoyed creating http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9053 and I'm proud of all the icons I make, in that mod or for anyone else.

Yeah, I'm actually not happy with most of my mods. I don't think they svck, well some of them do, but I know that I always learn something new and there's always stuff to improve. However, if it's not a major bug I don't usually fix up mods after release simply because I want to move on to new and more exciting stuff, I always wanna go bigger and better.

That's why I'm getting right on the Apocalypse Club once NV comes out, I want to get that mod to work just the way I want it, and I want it released. I've got so many huge plans for it, including a fight club, dancing strippers and a murder mystery :P

Well, if I had to pick just one, it would probably be http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6338.

But yeah, I'm proud of all my mods :celebration:

The mod I had the most fun making, and that I am most proud of is my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11892 mod for Oblivion.
It was my first attempt at making a mod, and I made some good friends here on the forum in the process.
The community was really supportive of my newbish-ness, and the heckling and horseplay that came along with the help made even the rough times I had with it fun.
There were a couple times I really felt like trashing the mod, and giving up on it, but the people that were helping me along, and all the people that were just encouraging me to do it kept me from stopping work on it.

As for Fallout 3, I'd have to say the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7115 is my favorite.
I originally made it for my own personal use, but uploaded it to Nexus just for kicks.
I get a pretty big smile on my face every time I see someone here list it as one of their favorites.

I know I say that I mod for my own personal desires. And that is true, I don't make any mods that I don't use in my own game.
But seeing one of my mods in someone else's load list, or seeing someone mention it in a thread gives the old ego a little boost, I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Yeah it's fun seeing your mod in a list. Not so fun when someone posts a crash complaint and you immedatly know that they are using the last version of your mod however, which happened to me :P

I'd have to say NTFS. For me, modding NPC AI is the most frustrating yet most rewarding of them all :D

That's the course you get if you make a popular mod. I think it's nearly impossible to be compatible with all the mods out there in the meantime. I still have a stubborn children out there. Who behaves perfect and nice at home but it simply don't likes it to be loaded on some configurations. Still... I love it ;) .
