Which Music Score is the best?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:56 am

morrowind theme was better but oblivion's entire soundtrack was superior to morrowind's.

Well, I do not agree at all.

Morrowind's themes fitted perfectly with the environment and if you placed the Oblivion's music in the environment, it did not fit at all.

I think Morrowind's combined atmosphere was just perfect, and it is just our preferences.

Oblivion's melodies suited the more action based theme of the Oblivion, and it's newer engine let us have separate dungeon music as well, so there.

I loved the moody and dreamy atmosphere of Morrowind much more than Oblivion's action based tone.

I absolutely loved Morrowind's theme.
I remember getting chills the first time I put the game into my Xbox.
Whenever I hear that theme, I still get goosebumps.

Oblivion didn't do so much for me. It was kind of mediocre in my opinion.

Skyrim's theme totally gave me those Morrowind chills, but in a totally different (but very good) way. I can't wait to hear more of it.
I especially love the Draconic choir. Totally awesome.

I think people may be confusing the Skyrim Theme (Sounds of Skyrim #3) and the Skyrim Trailer score (Dovahkiin Trailer).

I have to say, the new Skyrim Theme (which is a remix of Morrowind Theme anyways), is by far the coolest so far.

Don't fit? Oblivion had music separated into town, explore, and dungeon themes and fit very well with their respective areas and Cyrodiil's generally peaceful atmosphere, in my opinion. Oblivion's in-game soundtrack wasn't more action-based than Morrowind's... not at all... NOT AT ALL. Both games had peaceful, well, peaceful music and both had action-based battle music. Where you even got that Oblivion's in-game themes were action-based... I do not know:

Oblivion's main theme is action-based, but the in-game soundtrack just doesn't fit that description no matter how you look at it. In addition to that, regionalized music is actually pretty relevant and, considering Daggerfall is six years older than Morrowind and had even more regionalized music than Oblivion, technology has nothing to do with it. By all means, prefer Morrowind's soundtracks, but at the very least, make sure you actually remember what Oblivion's sounded like.

I like morrowind's the best, but that's probably just from nostalgia. for some reason i can't get into the skyrim theme, im sure it will grow on me.

this theme seems better

if you haven't watched it, dont, you won't be able to stop watching it.

Holy [censored], what is this?
Forged in God's very flames.

Do mine eyes tell me lies,
A new Elder Scrolls Game?

Time is nigh, I must fly,
Venture forth on my quest.

Goodbye Ma, goodbye Pa
And goodbye Girlfriend's briasts.

I'll be off Azeroth, catch you later Hyrule.
I'll be gone Albion, I'm no longer your fool.

Other crap filled the gap
While I waited to begin...

The adventure of my life
in the land of Skyrim!

^This = Pure WIN.

Morrowind will always be my favourite just because of the Nostalgia. Oblivion was similar, but I felt it lacked the charm of Morrowind's theme, it was grander yes, but Morrowind just had that something that made me prefer it.

Skyrim's theme (based on what little I've heard of it, namely the podcast intro) is great though, I really like that. I'd say the order would be Morrowind, Skyrim then Oblivion.

Main theme? I′ll have to go with Morrowind, it gives that "epic journey" feeling in your bones
Although I never played it...

I think that it all depends on the person, so the above post is exactly like I felt.

In your case, you thought Oblivion is perfect in most aspects and felt that its music was better and it might even fitted with Morrowind's theme, but In my case, it brought with it the memory of bright lush vista of oblivion, and the hectic pace of the game, and the end result was that it did not fit with the moody and dreamy atmosphere of the game.

Edit: So in your case Oblivion is always the better game, in most aspects, and in my case it is absolutely the reverse. :)

Morrowind, the music sounds extremely magical and makes me feel like I'm in this fantasy world. It also has a very good progressive melody in the background which makes the song sound very epic without being loud, which is a good thing. Everytime I hear it I want to reinstall Morrowind because the theme is so good. I guess its because I prefer music that makes me feel like I am in the world over music to get me pumped up for battle when playing RPGs.

It was always hard for me to decide between Morrowind and Oblivion title tracks because they are both equally amazing, but as for the rest of the soundtrack Oblivion is the best soundtrack ever made, all categories (including movies).

What? There are many movies that absolutely destroy the Oblivion Soundtrack. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Braveheart, Gattaca are just a few.

Morrowind as almost every track as a brilliant memory to go with it and it perfectly fit the other worldly atmosphere of Vvardenfell.

Skyrim's music is brilliant tho, I love the chants and it has the potential (once I hear all the track) to blow morrowind away

Oblivion's opening theme was nice but lacked depth and suitable grandiosity (there was a hint of it but not enough Oomph). The rest of the tracks kinda blend in to one another and didn't really stand out IMHO.
