Do you think the Aurora Borealis will only be visible in the northern Holds?

IIRC the German journalist who mentioned seeing it was in White Hold, which is in the center of the province.

Who is Baurus?

The Redguard Blade you meet in Oblivion's tutorial and who plays a role in the main quest.

Damn it, NO! NOT AGAIN! I HATE being accompanied by interesting companions! It's just disappointing when they die! I want disposable mercenaries!

I gotta agree with you there. I ALWAYS want everyone to come out a battle alive! :/ Like kvatch! I kept trying and trying until I finnished with everyone alive. I Maybe if there was a more complex character system, I'd use companions alot more than I will. In fallout3 they were kinda a burden, you know always watching out for them, gotta keep em alive, and so on.

I agree, but even if I have to make them wait somewhere during a battle, I definitely enjoy having them for the dialogue and quests.

Companions are kind of a Lose-Lose situation for devs - either the Companion A.I. is so dumb they quickly get themselves killed, or Companion A.I. is so smart that they quickly kill everything before you have a chance to fight, and traveling with them becomes boring, like "God" mode

4 New Details From Gamesradar: http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/preview/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-hands-on-preview/a-20110808185216854069/g-20100727104555695026

1. Lots of customization for Argonians."We decided to go with an argonian character, tinkering with the usual Bethesda parameters, playing with body type, skin color, and minute facial features, but it didn't change the truth of our character – he was still a lizard/dragon man. We did manage to give him a sweet rack of horns, though."

2. We start the game with our hands bound: "Finishing the character, we appeared in a cave with our hands bound together, but a simple attack broke those bonds and soon we emerged onto a rugged slope."

3. Visible Wind Near Bleak Falls Barrow: "Another fantastic detail we noticed was a stream of visible wind winding down through a crevasse, bringing the bitterness of the rugged environment to life."

4. Dual Lockpicks are Different From FO3 Lockpicks: . "We also discovered a locked treasure chest at the bottom of a waterfall-filled cavern, introducing us to Skyrim’s very different lock-picking minigame. This time around, you have two separate picks inserted into a lock and your job is to feel out how the lock turns. You rotate one stick gently and then also twist the other stick – if the lock begins to turn, you know you’re at the sweet spot and can be a bit bolder (sorry PC guys, we don’t know how it will work with keyboard and mouse). The lock we tried was of the lowest level, so we’re not sure how finicky the higher locks will get, but it certainly was much more tactile and “real” than the systematic tinking from Oblivion."

Yes, it looks like they took some cues from Duke Patricks Combat Archery, where enemy archers can also one-shot the PC - I really hope this is the case.

Gameplanet Hands-on Preview: http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/xbox/games/165080.The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim/previews/137668.The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim/

Highlights:
Orc Berserker Racial Talent: " the orc racial talent is a berserker rage ability that doubles damage output and halves incoming damage. "

Racial Abilities Must Be Equipped:"We tried to find the button to activate beserker rage, but lo and behold it doesn’t exist. Instead, the ability must be equipped – yes, equipped – by setting down the shield. "

New Lore Book: "The book opened, revealing a engrossing history inspired by the mysterious disappearance of the British colony at Roanoke, Virginia. This was the most profound moment with the game. It demonstrates, as Howard enthuses, that Skyrim is a living, breathing world. Here, players will find a history and more importantly, a future to discover and define. Both the literal and figurative depth of the lore and characters is nothing short of an astounding achievement."

Especially their thunderous roars - great job Mark Lampert! and the way they can fly off into the distance. the animations are so life-like.

Can't wait to play the game with a nice sound system and 1080p projector with the graphics settings and textures dialed up - I'm guessing we will hear a dragon in the distance before we see him the first time, then look around in a crap-our-pants moment, trying to find out where the sound came from.

I once heard a tiger roar on a tour in India and it was terrifying, probably more so because we never saw him.

the comment about improved hand to hand was in the Italian hands-on preview (multiplayer.it)

Ashley Cheng mentioned during his E3 interview that you can play as a total hand-to-hand character, "like a monk"

this has us all wondering which skill governs hand to hand attacks, since there are no H2H perks in 1-handed or 2-handed.
