Which pistol to choose

Post » Thu Dec 12, 2013 2:27 pm

Basically my options are as follows:

(1.). That Gun

(2.). Hunting Revolver

(3.). Lucky

For my character details, I'm on hardcoe, so weapon/ammo weight is an issue, my character has Agility 5, and Luck 5, so critical chance and reload speed will be affected, and I don't have the Finesse Perk though I am wearing the beret from Boone.

I like the Hunting Revolver for sheer power, but the ammo is fairly hard to find. I like That Gun and Lucky for the critical chance, and the easy to find ammo, but their DAM is lower.

So which one would people recommend?

I'd go for Lucky, mostly for the aesthetics and also it's slightly more accurate, has an extra bullet and the reloading one bullet at the time can be useful (not always though)
It also needs STR3 vs That gun's STR6, so if you're lacking in str, take Lucky. Lucky is also only half the weight of That Gun, (however .357 ammo is slightly heavier if i recall correctly, probably not though)

But that's just my opinion

For overall convenience, I would choose That Gun. That Gun is easier to get and sooner, without highly specilizing in a certain field, I find the ammo easier to find as well. I enjoy Lucky, but by the time I can get it, other guns are more appealing.

I would suggest the Hunting Revolver simply because it has great stopping power so you get the most bang for your buck. You can carry 20 rounds of 45.70 GVT and get 20 kills or you can carry 20 rounds of 357 or 5.56 and get 5 to 10 kills. It all comes down to efficiency and I feel like the Hunting Revolver is the most efficient because you don't need to carry as many bullets to get as many kills. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Prizrak

I'm sorry, but i'm pretty sure That Gun has one bullet less than Lucky, it has 5 rounds vs 6 of Lucky's

I'd say Lucky, it's capable of shooting a Deathclaw dead in 3-4shots.

Thanks to all for the replies so far! One thing I didn't make clear - I have got all 3. My Strength is 6 so sufficient for the Hunting Revolver, although my Guns skill isn't high enough so I do get some wobble. I like the scope and raw power on the Revolver, and I've used it for a while now, but I've only found ammo for it at the 188, so ammo is more limited than for the other 2, which is starting to bother me. That Gun I have used for a bit and found it lacking in damage compared to the Revolver, but the ammo is easy to find and it has a higher critical hit chance. I'm also carrying a Katana for close in, and recently switched to This Machine from the Hunting Rifle for longer range combat so the pistol would be for close in work like exploring a building, or those "Oh......darn" moments.

As said it's mainly the ammo for the Hunting Revolver that concerns me (it's also not an improved holdout weapon whereas I believe Lucky is) so think I will try Lucky and see what happens.
