Which Plants, Fungi, Flowers, etc. thrive in cold weather?

Post » Sat Dec 24, 2016 6:48 pm

Aside from Snowberry, of course. Is there a UESP or wiki link that specifically lists the "Cold Weather" plants? I own Heljarchen Manor, but never added the garden. I didn't, because I thought it ludicrous to have a garden when it does nothing but snow! Does anyone have a list, or know of a list of all that grows/CAN GROW in the frigid Pale? Obviously, plenty of Tundra Cotton, etc. Can be found growing in the Tundra region, but for any of you who own Heljarchen, you know how much it snows there. Any information sincerely appreciated.

You can plant any of the Hearthfire stuff there.

This map lets you see where ingredients can be found: http://srmap.uesp.net/

Use the "Show Resource" function at the top.

But just from playing the game a lot, I can suggest Canis root, Spiky grass pod, Nirnroot, and the red/blue/purple Mountain Flowers.

I think you can be a bit flexible though, especially at that specific location. Plants like Tundra Cotton, Nightshade, Thistle, and Lavender would probably feel natural there too.

Thank you so much! With the exception of Tundra Cotton, I've just never seen those others you recommended growing in snowy regions. Honestly, I've only seen Snowberries (boring to me).

You can find blue mountain flowers in snowy areas, like along the road just outside Winterhold, and near the Nightgate Inn. And I think I've also seen red and purple mountain flowers in snowy areas.

I wouldn't let cold weather deter my gardening. After all, one can find butterflies flying around near the snowy road at Stonehills. Skyrim is filled with hardy flora and fauna. :)

For sure.

And like I suggested, Heljarchen Manor's location is right beside the warmer climate of Whiterun. I don't think some of that flora in your garden would break immersion.
