Which race will survive the longest challenge

Post » Thu Feb 12, 2015 8:19 am

So I came up with a crazy idea for a new way to play skyrim. I will try creating one character for each race (10 total) and i will try to play each one an even amount. Now this will take a lot of time, so i probably will have to focus on 2-3 characters a day with maybe half an hour to an hour for each(if i have a day off hopefully more). Now here is the part that makes it into a competition, I will play using dead is dead rules and no reloading. Meaning the character is deleted upon death and if a tragic vamp attack killing 10 npcs happens, i will not reload, but plow forward. Now where id like some help is character direction and a way to clearly tell who won. Should I judge the winner by whoever lasts the longest? (Though this leaves cowardice as a way to win). Or most kills? Or level reached at death(favoring this atm)? I soon will post the character name and class for each race and will try to update with character progress. I would like to know your opinion on what the races character should be (ex: bosmer archer or khajiit thief). Tips on which side they should join for the civil war (should they live long enough) would be appreciated. Tell me what you think and feel free to try this game mode idea for yourself.

I have seen people play characters that live their own lives "all in the same Skyrim" before but not like this. I don't think you could really score a TES game by any sort of stat or time invested into a character. I know there is a mod that lets you load character saves so they show up in your current game, but that's the most intricate I've seen something like this be done.

It's a very vast idea to follow through with I feel.

Yes i agree it will be quite overwhelming, but I like the idea of using all the races and trying to give each a class to best suit abilities and starting stats. Now if i was trying to do an entire playthrough with each i would never have the time and patience, but since im using DID rules i think its possible. As far as score i just need. A way to tell who won in the end, id say level is probably the simplest way to go. As it rewards bravery and fights and training. After each dies i think i will post at least the combat stats here. (Sorry for double post)

I wonder if this will determine anything other than what "type" of character you play best. If you were to play all the races the same way, you'd miss out on some of the obvious advantages, and if you play them differently, you're not really comparing them.

For example, an Almer comes with a magicka boost, a bonus to Illusion, and the Fury spell. You get the most out of the character by playing from the racial strengths, so your Altmer would be a mage specializing in Illusion.

Likewise, your Bosmer would be a lightly armored Archer, your Breton would be a Conjurer specializing in summoning, your Dunmer would make a good Destruction mage, your Orc would be heavily armored, etc.

Unless you are equally adept at playing these different character types, your own game-playing skill will affect the "comparison."

As an example, I know that my own playing style favors sneaky mages or archers. I don't tend to play "tanks" nearly as well. As a result, I can play to the strengths of elves and Bretons, but I have more problems with Nords, Orcs, and Redguards. As for Imperials, I haven't figured out what they're good for in this game! ;)

In any case, good luck with it. It will be a big (and hopefully fun) project. :)

Most of the time my archery characters are the easiest to keep alive. You can avoid getting hit, especially with the higher tier perks which make archery really powerful as you play the game.

Exactly. The same holds true for sneaky mages. You can have your way with the enemy from a safe distance. In both instances, you are defining the battlefield to your satisfaction, forcing the enemy to come to you.

Thanks for the support glargg and I'll go ahead and answer the playstyle question. I am trying to make each race's character best suited to what they're stats and abilties help in, such as the khajiit I plan on using daggers and being sneaky, the nord will have a two handed weapon with light armor, the bosmer will have light armor and use a bow, though sometimes I will have a nord using a bow or a bosmer using a sword in cqc and etc. For the most part however, I will try to use the character to their advantages, but they may crossover at any given time. Now I know whichever character wins doesn't by any stretch mean that race is the best, as my skill level and playstyle along with random events has a huge impact on their deaths or accomplishments. atm I am most skilled in sword and shield with light armor, though I have used heavy armor near as much and my archery is pretty good. I am pretty newb to magic however, but I will practice with that. So far I got the Breton and Argonian created and will update the original post with the characters names and general classes.
