Which race you find more interesting!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:39 pm

I've always loved the Dunmer and the Nords. After Skyrim releases all I can say is,
"I have got to play in both my favorite races homeland neh neh nana nana boo boo!" :P

Yeah, well I've killed more Dunmer than Baar Dau.

Since Daggerfall, I've only used 3 races.

Redgaurd
Altmer
Dunmer

I need to branch out this time around.

I love the Bosmer and Imperials, but find their Greater Powers to be worthless, so I play a Breton.

1. Khajiit, even though I do not play as them often, I just find them the most interesting.

2. Altmer, I play as them most because I maximize my magic so I can pull off some powerful spells.

On the interesting scale I'd probably say Dunmer are the most interesting.

Imperials on the other hand aren't interesting at all. They're just that obligatory "we're acceptable as all classes but not masters of anything" race.

Lore wise I love the bosmer, moving cities, the hunt. How most wild creatures are claimed to be bosmer from past hunts. Not to mention where they live. They are probably tied with lore proper imperials, you know before Bethesda butchered the lore accuracy of oblivion and made them bland as all heck.

Imperials and Nords are my favorite, but in terms of which I find interesting I find them all interesting.

I initially didn't like Dunmer when playing Morrowind, but they kind of grow on you, especially since my very favorite character I've played was an Ashlander named Kitbaal. Also, Julan Kaushibael makes it very difficult not to like Dunmer. ;) I love Khajiit but couldn't bring myself to play one. I'm also fond of Nords, a very interesting mixture of Celtic and Saxon cultures.

I won't finish the MQ with all of them, but will spend some hours with each if race makes a difference in your player's abilities and in the way npcs treat the player.

That pretty well covers my answer too. Being a non-human race, it has many different breeds, like cats do, so I find them the most interesting (also favourite, but yes, I do realize the difference between choosing a favourite race, and choosing which one seems to be the most interesting. :P).

It's the same in Morrowind. It's because they ARE always angry. You would be too if you were possessed of superior fighting prowess and forced to suppress your natural urge to show it off by littering the ground with dead people. What good is a 90 lb axe if I'm not allowed to just behead some high-and-mighty Dunmer with it?

No, they're angry because Redguards surpass them in all melee capabilities. Must be a hard pill to swallow, for a race that's not good at anything else.

I support the Argonians, all the way.

Being both stats and roleplay driven I chose depending on roleplay being used and don't really find one to be the most interesting.

Beast races: Both Khajiit and Argonians I find interesting and a Khajiit works well as stealth character and Argonians more of a jack of all trades.
Imperials: While I support the empire I don't often use them as a my character.
Wood Elfs: Other then keen marksmen abilitys "meh".
Orkcs: Never bothered making a orc character and never felt compelled to along with the fact that I tend to avoid pure combat builds.
Dunmer: I like their more pessimistic/realist viewpoint for life no doubt worsened after the impact and find the overall culture interesting and works well as a battlemage.
Briton: I make use of britons a lot always being the first race I make use of in for my first playthough serving as great mages and if I'm doing a "For the Empire!" characters then I pick the Briton.
Redguards: Read Orc in addition to views on magic being a bit off putting and uninteresting as a whole.
Altmer: On occasion I make use of Altmer characters if I'm going pure sorcerer and have afterall given much to Tamiel even if they are quick to bring up.
Nord: If going for more of a warrior build then I go with the viking berserker who can at least also serve as a healer with ingame bonuses.

All and all my favorites because I can't chose and in no particular order would have to be Britons, Dunmer, Khajiit, Argonians, and Nords.

Most interesting? Khajiit for sure. Moon cycles and different types? Definitely! Argonains are a close second though with their hist stuff. But I don't like lizards as much as cats...

My favourite is Nord though. It used to be Redguard but speculating on Skyrim for so long has changed my perspective.

Pfft. Not a single Redguard in Morrowind has ever slain me, not even at Level 1. :P

In some ways it was a little less interesting having Oblivion take place in Cyrodill. I l mean in Morrowind you got to learn about the Dunmer and all their ways and such, but in Cyrodill you had Imperials, and I feel like for the most part we already know just about all there is to know about Imperials, I mean they' only have a presence everywhere in the world.

No Sload option, no vote.
I'd pick Argonian if more bandits used poison and Acrobatics or Athletics did anything but modify fall damage and .0005 running speed, etc.
