Which recording and editing software do you use?

Hey guys, which is the best recording software to use without sacrificing much fps and disk space (other than fraps or afterburner) and which is simple editing software other than Windows Movie Maker?Links for download will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Windows Movie Maker?!?!? Does someone use that bloat? Anyway, for encoding I either use VirtualDub OR meGUI with x264.
