Which side did you go with in Oasis?

I was wondering what your guys' opinion is on which side to choose in the quest Oasis. I personally kill Harold out of mercy like he originally wanted, but the reward for helping Leaf Mother Laurel seems more useful (The hood and Linden's Outcast Power armor), what do you guys think?

Reward-wise: I'm all about that hood and the armor. Though the other reward is actually pretty OP in my opinion. At least it made me feel invincible with the one character who took it. Or maybe it was a combination of a variety of perks.

But, I usually choose to spread the wealth into the wasteland. There are actually green trees at the base of the butte, on the north side, and one on the south. Good or evil, how can you not spread the influence, something that benefits all, long term?

I always kill Harold, like he wants.
To do anything else is beyond cruel.

There is loads of trees there, the greeness will spread without Harold.
And Bob, the tree, might live on without Harold, absorb the corpse.
Even if the original tree dies, there is enough trees for spreading them.

I chose to let Harold grow. Yes by doing so it means people might come looking for the source but it's the right thing to do to help life survive and develop for the future. Harold even says that he was being selfish in wanting to die.

Harold even says that he was being selfish in wanting to die.

Because you convinced him. He's not being selfish at all. Is it selfish to want a dignified death rather than to continue a terrible existence?

The poor guy was a human and has now been genetically fused to a tree. That's got to be the worst feeling in the world for a once mobile creature.

I ignored Oasis in my recent playthrough so I could pretend that Harold was actually back in Gecko where he had very little reason to leave.

If his existence is providing hope to many people and helping to rebuild the wasteland to its natural state, then, in my opinion, yes it is selfish. Being completely cold about this, what's more important, the life of one mutant or restoring the world.

(It's strange to find myself arguing to ignore the rights of mutants with an Enclave supporter!)

My first playthrough I gave him the stuff to make him spread (and got the power armor) because I thought it was the right thing to do for the wasteland.

My second playthrough I killed him because I felt bad that he had to hang out with those nutjobs all the time, figuring the plant would probably spread on their own although at slower rate.

I ensured his "gift" would reach other parts of the CW. The Enclave needs some lebensraum.

I got him to spread.

He says he'll keep himself interested in seeing the new sights across the wasteland and I am sure the Lone Wanderer came back ti talk to him often.

I always kill Harold, like he wants.

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure all of the trees in Oasis (definantly Bob) die when he's killed. I think they're all being kept alive by his heart or something like that.

The treeminders male leader says they can keep Oasis going when you talk to them. They don't die.

In that case that's the best option.

I had been under the impression all of the trees died...

Then it would've been a moral dilema.
