Which TES developpement team would you like to see developpi

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:07 pm

I already made my remarks about the Daggerfall team at the top of this page but I'd just want to say I want Julian LeFay back. What happened to him, anyway?

Did he retire? Did Todd round up him and all the other Bethesda devs who wanted a complex RPG game and banish them into Oblivion? :obliviongate:

I'd like to see Crytek make TESV. That'd be awsome.

I'm thinking there wouldn't be half (or even quarter?) as many bugs if the recently acquired idSoftware team developed the next ES.

From what I hear...I think most of the team was the same through the series....so I'm thinking this is just another one of those, which game was best threads in disguise.

Yes and no. All the cool developers? Different with each game, and sadly gone now.

[sarcasm] BIG suprise. Another "morrowind vs the rest" poll. At least this time its disguised as something else, and look Morrowind won. [/sarcasm]

This was asking what developers you want, hardly a Morrowind vs. something else poll. Also, I did vote for Morrowind since I thought it was a great game and that the team did a great jub. Daggerfall's team is good to though. (Off Topic) AlexCitto, why is it you seem to have a problem with Morrowind winning in any poll?

Not really. Arena and Daggerfall mostly had the same team, and Morrowind and Oblivion mostly had the same team. But there's a huge difference between the Daggerfall and Morrowind teams.

Because they win in EVERY poll.
Morrowind is a good game, but these forums portray it as god incarnate.

That's because the majority of the people who jumped onto the TES bandwagon with Morrowind are the ones on this forum. Morrowind's release was timed perfectly with the expansion of the internet and increasing accessibility in videogaming (an accessibility only increased further by the fact the game came out on Xbox).

All I want is for Ubisoft, the Makers of Assassin's Creed to make ALL of the cities. They actually understand how to make a dang city.

lol, seeing that the Morrowind dev team is basically the same as the Oblivion dev team, if you want the Morrowind team, you get the Oblivion team as well. But we don't want that, because Oblivion is the ultimate evil in the universe and deserves to burn in hell forever. /sarcasm

This thread is really more of a "Whats the best game" isnt it? Well whatever i vote morrowind because i want TES V to be more like morrowind (not OB). Dont really trust the new team because you never know wether it will be a good or bad team...

The one that made IHRA 2004.

It came with my xbox when we got it from a friend who got a new system, and I tried it out, saw Bethesda on the loading screen and went "yaaaaay"

And then it svcked.

I voted Morrowind. But I haven't played Oblivion. I don't have anything to play it with. Yes, I know its 2009. :)

Morrowind team because the Oblivion team screwed up the lore. I couldn't believe in Oblivion they made the Night Mother an all powerful ghost. Remember that the Night Mother in Morrowind was each Province's DB guilder leader? There are other examples but we don't need any more contradicting lore

The original aim of this poll was to compare developement teams without considering some elements that will automatically point new games as better ones.
The two most obvious points that make comparison between TES games biased are :
1/ The money and human means the devs had when creating their games (Beth has got richer and richer and computer games got more and more cash to be developed over the last 2 decades).
2/ The technical ladder that automatically makes new games look better, with better engines and sounds than old ones.

Both those elements are quite important and can easily make any casual player obviously point Oblivion or MW as better games than old ones.

But, if you assume that all of the past TES teams had the same cash, the same size and were using the same technology, which one do you think would end with the best TES game?

My vote is for DF, both an innovative game structure and ambitious RPGish developement.

Simple.... Morrowind, through and through.

Oblivion was great, and so were the other games, but none can hold the torch like Morrowind. It was SO in-depth and had LOADS of content that Oblivion lacked horribly. Put it this way: Imagine Oblivion's graphical changes and combat changes and all the good next-gen stuff, but put it in Morrowind.

Does that not sound like the greatest thing? But TESV won't be in Morrowind (I doubt it, but AWESOME if it was), but I'm just saying.

I think TOO many people 'discovered' The Elder Scrolls with Morrowind, so that's sealed the deal as being their favorite game. It was their 'first'. ;)
Post-Morrowind, It's difficult for many to go back engine-wise (lol OMG they used SPRITES!!!) To appreciate Daggerfall or Arena for what they were.
And take off the rose colored glasses people. Yes, Daggerfall was a bug-fest. Yes, I learned the "Daggerfall 'shuffle'"(saving OFTEN & cycling through save slots to ensure a somewhat recent stable save :D) AND the Daggerfall 'shuffle' served me well in Morrowind, the CTD game of the year :) Not to say I didn't love Morrowind... I did! I'm just attempting to show WHY some people have unintentional bias towards one game or the other & it's a hurdle to go BACK such a large step (Tech-wise) and not have that affect your opinion.
