Which TES developpement team would you like to see developpi

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:59 pm

I think (depending on where the game is decided to be set in) eg. if it's in Cyrodill or wherever, the hosting team should be the ones to make it. If Cyrodil -> Oblivion Team, if Morrowind -> Morrowind Team. If you want a full view of what I'd like then read my post at the bottom of this post. The only thing not added in it is what I'm saying should be in the new TES V : New Race: Daedra; Chaitiff, Dremora, etc.

Following post. In prelude to the post I've already made in another place -> Morrowind and Oblivion Teams should group together (Afew people from both teams).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oblivion and MW teams are merely the same. Oblivion team was not created around a team that "knew" Cyrodil, nor MW one because some devs were fine connaisseur of this dusty volcanic region. Following your idea, only Arena team would be legitimate to produce next TES, because they are the ones who created and knew ALL the Tamrielic regions!

The place where a TES take place depends of the devs imagination, the plot they have in their head. For the next TES, I do not care about where it will happen. All I want is a dev team who will be able to create solid RPG mechanics, a good and REALLY INTERACTIVE story, and immerse us in their game.

And please, just get rid of the demonlike daedras! Lets them go back to their planes, maybe with a few left behind, a ruin here or there, but no more ridiculous daedric invasion.

Daedras are supposed to be extraodinary beings. Daedric artifacts and items rare and precious. Making them so common, as they were in Oblivion, simply makes them uninteresting.

They should really make the game expand over all of Cyrodil. I also think that the leveling should be more like Morrowind's. I great after putting a lot of time into a game feeling a sense of superiority, rather than taking your Imperial Dragon armor and fading back into the world as a common citizen who receives various greetings...

Well, I prefere the opposite, as in DF. I love to feel the world is living by itself and do not revolve around me. I like to know my character is not a god in the middle of a worm nest. Knowing about the existence of superior beings or really powerfull NPC help feel the world alive.

I loved how, even with my high level character, I felt afraid of entering the king of worm lair to talk to him : there were vampires and greater liches everywhere. The fact that they were not attacking was even more frightening as I entered deeper into the dungeon : if the king of worms decided to kill me, I would probably not be able to make it outside.

I prefere to be thrilled than feeling adventures are just cake walks.

Nooooooo, Todd's awesome.

I have no problem with Todd directing and jeremy soule doing music. They do a good job. It's the programmers and animators that need to liven up.

Hands-down, the Daggerfall team.

While the Oblivion team has worked to simplify the game to ensure more people can get into it, to the point that it's not even an RPG anymore, many people (especially since the majority of the forumers here jumped on the TES bandwagon after Daggerfall) seem to forget the original aim of The Elder Scrolls Series.

The Daggerfall team was incredibly ambitious, working to produce all kinds of amazing things. In the end they could not produce as much as they promised, but Daggerfall still became an amazingly open-ended game because they actually tried and weren't afraid to take risks. What's even more amazing is that they took risks at a time when The Elder Scrolls still wasn't a particularly popular franchise. Daggerfall accomplished more for the series than any other game can claim to have done. Since then the games have seen almost no new content, if anything, a loss of content.

The series is certainly more well-known now and they can certainly take more risks now, but why don't they? The current team is afraid. The current team is trying too hard in the name of money and too little in the name of the roots of the series. The current team has to go. We need the Daggerfall team back.

...oh, and Eric Heberling. ^_^

Daggerfall team. They put their souls into the game. They added tons of content and made the single best MQ storyline of any game I've ever played. MW stuff got taken out, Oblivion had level scaling and more stuff taken out. I want a team that is committed to giving the fans the best possible product and the proof is in the product. All you have to do is throw the graphics out for a minute and ask yourself which game had the best content. I know of very few folks who have played since DF that would not vote for it. O or MW may win this poll, but those numbers are going to be inflated by folks who haven't played all of them. This series needs a shot of adrenaline or a swift kick in the pants, not to continually digress.

My god, this thread is still around?

I say the best team would be to grab everyone in the suggestions thread. Then again, we don't know if anyone there can do the marketing, the scripting, ect and it might end up looking like Arena again, but the ideas would rock.

I'm game for marketing and PR duties.

There's one flaw in your plan, Nerev. Everybody in this forum wants The Elder Scrolls V to be developed to be the perfect TES game (their definitions of "perfect" vary, like between the Daggerfallers and Oblivionites, but still). Last time I checked, "perfect" has not been, and never will be, Bethesda's target image of TES V.

Their image of TES V is the one with the "Named 'Game of the Year' By Over 100 Publications" sticker on it and over 5 million copies sold. The image that is accompanied by lots and lots of money.

An Elder Scrolls RPG is the game that can never be perfect, or even completely satisfying. It's in the nature of it, I think. There are limitless possibilities of things you can put in the world, and unfortunately the ones you don't include will protest loudly in the face of the features you do. The only way to do it successfully is to make each part of the game fit neatly with all the others through some common element of gameplay style or world atmosphere. Only games like Portal can be perfect and complete. (And Half Life 2, but I'm a fan.) No one would ever consider adding a machine gun to Portal, but in ES we wonder where the toilets and clothespins are.

Oh yeah, you're that one artist guy who developed a bunch of creatures and stuff for ES. Bethesda needs you back for sure.

I think it was a lot more artists than just me. :) There's plenty of ideas, the place is awash with them. :)

'Course, I'd love a go at some new ones! :)

Clannfear Rex anyone?

Clannfears were pretty sweet. It'd be cool to see what else you can come up with for the next ES game if you got hired.

Why only those four from Oblivion team? ;)

I start thinking that the biggest flaw of my poll is to have questionned people with various experience of the TES serie by giving them the same choices.

I should have asked :
Question 1 : if you have played the WHOLE TES serie, which dev team would you choose for next TES
Then question 2 : If you have played MW and Oblivion only, which team would be yours
Question 3 : You only played Oblivion...

I seriously doubt that someone will vote for DF if he has never played the game (which means that the minority of old TES fan is probably mostly in favor of DF design team). Though, what is interesting, is that while merely everybody here have played Oblivion, there is a very minority of supporters of its devs team.

Which is also quite interesting considering that MW and Oblivion teams are merely the same. It is a clear demonstration of the general reproval of Oblivion design choices in favor of MW ones.

What if we played oblivion, arena, and daggerfall.
but not morrowind?
