Which is the best water mod that doesn't impact performance?

Post » Fri Oct 22, 2010 3:04 am

I was just searching nexus and the only one I could find was enhanced water but the download link is broken. Are there any more around any where? Thanks.

In terms of performance not sure, depends on your machine and water detail settings, I usually like enhanced water but that really should be used with high detail and the SI version which is only high detail.

Theres been an update recently to Phinix Water which is good, now supports SI if you have it installed and probably better performance wise, have a read of the description and check out Vanilla v Modded screenshots....

Other water mods, havent looked at these for a while but see which suits, some too clear, some too blue, your choice though....

I think Phinix Waterfix v2 is by far the best water mod and I haven't seen any performance hit from it.

None of the water mods we have today actually change how water works, they just tweak settings so they should not really impact performance at all. Don't get me wrong they make a huge difference visually, but yeah performance wise they should not change much.

As far as whats best is totally up to personal opinion. Some people want tropical looking green water, some want light blue, some want dark etc etc. There is no best from a technical standpoint, its just what kind of look you are going for.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17345 really doesn't impact performance at all for me. It might for others but I don't notice any difference at all and the water looks gorgeous.

I still think it looks like pool water or the Caribbean Sea. That is supposed to be lake water...personal preference...

My favorite is Enhanced Water v2.0 HDMI. The color seems "natural" and it has a nice balance of clearness/muddiness. Also, I've had issues with certain interior waters with other water mods but never any issues with EW. Haven't tried Phinix v2, though, but I will.

I love Enhanced Weather. I use the HD version. The muddier underwater view is perfect. Even HDMI's increased clarity looks like a bit too much for me. Plus, I do not have any problems with EW.

Woo! Another user of it. I'd also like to say don't be intimidated by the "HDMI" at the end. I really didn't get a noticeable performance hit from it.

I think that http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/8011-2-1192049378.jpg pretty much says it all.

I'm a fan of Enhanced Water HDMI as well.
Although Phinix Waterfix v2 does look like a vast improvement of it's predecessor. I'm keeping with Enhanced, but checking out both of these will probably be practically anyone's best bet.
