Which type of TES5 experience would you rather have?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:05 am

I'd rather have a deeper world with less cut & paste in it. This was a serious flaw in TES4. Another thing is PLEASE don't have so many fast travel locations open right from character creation. This single handedly destroyed Oblivion's sense of scale. Morrowind, despite actually being much smaller, felt bigger due to you had to explore everywhere on foot. Fallout 3's travel system is exactly how TES5 should be done.

lol same here. But a game that excelled in both would be incredibly expensive and take forever to make.

Definitely deeper, with well thought-out quests and a very good storyline, with no copy-paste dungeons filled with monsters and nothing interesting in them.
This reminds me of MW vs. OB threads. I choose MW.

I want an experience that does not involve me being in a jail cell right when I first started the game.

Poll wise; both.

Whoever said the Oblivion was not big is utterly wrong.

I did not feel the scale being drawn back because of fast travel but instead it was a good option to move around quite quickly.

Guys, do not forget the Daggerfall had fast-travel as well.

Oblivion is indeed bigger than Morrowind, although Oblivion is a smaller scale, which may explain why Morrowind had more in the way of small villages and such to go with the larger cities.

As for the poll, I'd prefer the deeper experience, but as large as they can get while doing that

Personally, I leave it to Bethesda to create bigger, expansive and unique lands and cultures from game to game. Each game should have very deep quests though.

Deeper, obviously. The scale of the Oblivion wasn't enormous, but in my opinion it was more than adequate.

But being a prisoner is a traditon of elder scrolls games!

If I had to choose I would choose bigger lands, because I spend more time outside than in dungeons, but don;t get me wrong dungeons still are VERY important to me.

O and you can't choose both the point is to choose between them :P

It had fast travel because it needed it, oblivion had fast travel because of laziness.

Um, yeah, really. Both. Daggerfall was both. Heck, even Morrowind was both if you count movement speed into the factor of determining the relative size of landmass. There's no reason you can't have both.

Morrowind felt massive, but had lots of unique places and items, and great variation throughout each area. Oblivion felt tiny and homogenised.

Seems Beth only do both or neither, and I quite liked having both.

I hate you.

And yeah, have to agree with "both" even if it's not listed on the poll. Daggerfall did it and even Morrowind did it in a way (at least moreso than Oblivion). It's not A or B for Bethesda. It's A and B. Because we have inhumanely high expectations for them and like to bash them for their crappy games. And I'm not being sarcastic. They have to shape up.

Technically oblivion was larger, but in oblivion it was possible to outrun horses, while morrowind was much slower paced movement wise.

Anyway, I say they go with a more daggerfallish formula of randomly generated enviroments and a deep story.

what do you mean? anyway, if you think that i'm joking, i'm not. seriously, ill ask you this. was there one good creature in oblivion? N-O. They need more dynamic creatures with better AI. make deers actually run when i approach, not prace into a wall haha

Smaller but more animals? i would rather see it the other way around. bigger but less animals. not that there shouldnt be lots of animals... and bandits and monsters but you should encounter them less. it cant be true i cant walk 10 feet before i meet another Wolf.

Anyway i refuse to chose. i want them both.
