Original. I think you can play PS1 games with that. Why not get the PS3 classic though?

There's really no reason not to get a Slim. It doesn't have the expansion bay, but the only game that required the HDD was Final Fantasy XI.

You can play PS1 games on any PS2.

I recall hearing about problems that the original PS2 had with getting disc read errors after a few years. I haven't had any problems with my slim, pretty sure you can't go wrong either way though.

I have a slim and it works fine. Cani Canem Edit is a great game, you should get it when you buy a PS2.

I would buy a brand new PS2 this way you get a warrenty for it. Why would you want a PS2 anyway? Just curious to know? Is there a certian game you want to play that is only on the PS2?

There are a lot of great PS2 exclusives, and since most PS3 models available these days aren't backwards compatible the only way to play em is to get a PS2. It's a nice system.

I was so disapointed that the PS3 was not PS2 backwards compatible. I think this is so ironic that Sony laughed at the 360 when it first came out not being backwards compliant like the PS2 was, and lo and behold, the PS3 is not as well. Weird it's PS1 backward complaint but not PS2. I wonder why.

The PS3 60 gig or was it 80 gig was PS2 backwards complaint, why can't the other PS3 be the same as well?

The PS3

Obviously he doesn't want a PS3 when the title clearly states "Which version of the PS2 should i get ?". Jeez people.

I say which ever one is the cheapest. Check craigslist and such.

That is right, he doesn't want a PS 3, but a PS 2.

Getting the cheapest doesn't neccessarly mean saving the most money. I say get it brand new at the store in the box shrink wrapped. Why because when buying second hand you don't know how long it will last for and what kind of condtion it is, or how good of a condtion it was kept. I bought a 360 wireless controller for $40, (was saving $30 at the time) and it only lasted one month.

I wouldn't trust Craigslist unless you are paying what, $10 for it.

Yeah same here. They just don't make consoles like they used to.

If you do get a regular version of the PS2 make sure that it is a later version. The older PS2 version was plagued with disc read errors (though I believe that an updated version came out and they had fixed the problem but I'm not sure what model number it is) but the slim version doesn't seem to have that issue.
