Which weapons do you refuse to use?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:55 pm

I'm sure all of us have a weapon type that we refuse to use in combat? What is yours?

For me it's energy weapons. I'm not really sure why, but for some reason I hate them. I like to pretend they don't exist in Fallout 3's world and that only the oridinary guns and melee weapons exist, which I know is a little stupid because I have robot servants and rocket-shaped cars everywhere. However those are the weapons I refuse to use in combat and I often sell them or trade them to the Outcasts.

The fatboys. I hate them. No class. Also I generally stay away from miniguns, I'd say that they aren't worth their price in ammo, if it weren't for 5mm being abundant.

Fat Mans. I can't properly articulate my utter disgust of the weapon.

I never use miniguns or missile launchers. I can't hit anything with Eugene or a missile launcher even with high Big Guns skill.

I also have never used a pulse mine aside from dropping one in a npc's pants. I love explosives but I can't imagine trying to lay a minefield for a couple of sentry bots without them shredding me. I'd rather shut them down with Robotics Expert.

I dontuse any pistols.
dont really likethe rock-it-launcher or the railway rifle either.

its novel shooting a plunger at an enemy and such., or pinning them to a wall witha railroad spike.

And.. for the most part i dont use energy weapons.

i like ising an unarmed/explosives/small guns guild mostly..

always unarmed heavy

Two of the most useless weapons in the game

How can you hate the Railway Rifle? I couldn't tell you how many times that thing has saved my ass. It's a headhunters weapon of choice. With mmm ghoul rise... Let's just say it's double tap is satisfying.

I prefer small guns class. I just don't find miniguns, missle launchers, and gatling weapons amazing. The Fatman is a fun novelty toy, but Big Guns are impractical for me. Just give me a CAR, Sniper Rifle, and Pistol and Im good.

Basically any Big Guns, I dislike lugging around a huge hunk of metal that burns through ammo that quickly. I prefer to remain agile and stealthy, so prefer a dual-handed small gun or energy weapon. Also I dislike Melee and Unarmed as anything other then backup, for when you run out of ammo.

I usually lob a frag grenade in to soften them up, and then start a firefight with my primary weapon, usually an assault rifle or laser rifle, taking cover in between reloads. Its not subtle, but it gets the job done. I've never played a pure sniper, but I like the idea of trying it.

I avoid the weapons you have to make yourself, because I am far too lazy to track down all the blueprints and the items you need to make them.

I second the minigun. It's heavy and annoying. My first play through I used energy weapons and now I don't, I avoid them now, too. I don't hate them, though, except when they're being fired at me.

Miniguns are beast in Fallout 3, I carry one around with all the ammo i can carry with it!

I refuse to use Chinese Pistols because they are inaccurate.

All of the big guns, the Chinese Pistol, MOST energy weapons (save the Gauss Rifle, I might do a playthrough as a Energy weapons expert but not in my current and first playthrough), and the .32 pistol.
EDIT: also most melee weapons.

The Chinese pistol.

lol. I punish my least favorite followers by making them carry it.

I refuse to carry the assault rifle. I hate it. It svcks. It is too inaccurate and it's ugly. Yuck. I'd use the Chinese Pistol and a pool cue before I'd use the assault rifle. It's the only weapon I absolutely refuse to pick up. I like Unarmed a lot so I use my fists as a preference to lots of stuff, but I would pick most stuff up if I had to.

I used to enjoy making custom weapons, but lately I find it annoying keeping up with all the parts to make them so I sold all the parts I had collected for lots of caps and now I use the workbench as a decoration.

I love the Nailboard. It's awesome. Whack! It's not as good as the Repellent Stick, but it's a close second. I mean, not that I'd take on a room full of Muties and Overlords with one, but they're fun as hell to beat Raiders and Outcasts over the head with.

One time when I roleplayed as a hardcoe apocalypse survivor who was living in one of the Minefield houses before the bombs fell, I gathered as many nail boards as I could and placed them around the barricaded windows of the house like I was turning my character's house into a bomb shelter.

Have you ever been wacked with a board full of nails? It friggin hurts!!! Lol JK.

I never use the .32 revolver, chinese pistol, rolling pin, knife, pool cue, switchblade, and the regular assault rifle if I can help it. I see a lot of big guns haters out there. They probably hate them because they don't see the benefits that come with them. By level 10 ammo is never really an issue for me. Yes they do cost more than other gun types to use, but they pack quite a punch. My best character was a big guns user who could just run into battle and mow his enemies down. He didn't have much trouble taking out ghoul reavers and hordes of tribesmen in point lookout. Alas the thing that finally killed him was an accidental delete while hiding with some other files.

My previous character used big guns. There was something deliciously satisfying about perching on top of a bunch of rocks, aiming to the Enclave camp below, and blowing them to bits before they had any idea what was going on. ;) The main problem is finding the ammo, for the missile launcher in particular.

Refuse to use.... I spose chinese pistol like others have said. I did use the unique once for it's flame effect, but the novelty didn't last long :)

I rarely use the firelance and alien blaster, don't know why..... I spose if I have either of those in my posession it's likely I would have novasurge or atomic pulvorisor equiped instead.

Another awesome idea would be to gather as many as you can and place them near a metal barrel that's on fire and pretend to use them for kindling. :hehe:
