White House confusion

Post » Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:15 am

Is it a myth, because I've never seen it. I've heard there's bits of it in a crater, I've heard you have to go through a maze of metros to get there. I was somewhere near the mall and I saw SOMETHING on the other side of a metal fence in a hole like the badly irradiated one the super mutants hang around, but I couldn't get to it. Was that it? I am so confused right now. XD

The White House is a hole in the ground but if you go down a manhole nearby you can exit into the crater is what little is left of the White House

Edit: There's a free Mini-Nuke or two if you want them

You gotta go through the Utility tunnel on the left of this map.

You also get one of the biggest laughs of the game on the way (if you're lucky)

Spoiler
Head to the Penn Ave portion of DC... start poking around and you'll find the tunnels/sewer that gets you past the fences. Look for the Brotherhood of Steel outpost right near the fence, there will be a manhole cover nearby. You'll end up somewhere inside the crater, taking constant radiation damage (but nowhere as bad as Vault 87's crater).

How bad is the radiation? Because I know you can technically get the GECK yourself, but I don't think it's possible on console - you just can't pop the Radaway fast enough.

It's no big deal. One Rad-Away should take care of all your problems.

Use your Local Map and your eyes. You've probably walked right passed it loads of times

And the rads is a non issue with a RadX and some RadAway

It's easy enough to retrieve the GECK on the console version. Just pop some Rad-X and you're done. It's nowhere near as bad as Vault 87's entrance.

And the radiation in the White House isn't too bad -- nothing a RadAway or two can't fix. Really, I wish it was more than just a hole in the ground. Oh well.

It's even possible to get to the door of Vault 87 on the console. Just take a few Rad-X's, and hot-key Rad-Away. Make sure you have like, 50 Rad Away's though. Then just run at the entrance, while spamming the button you hotkey'd. Make a save before attempting this, to be on the safe side.

I highly advise against this though. There's nothing of value at the entrance and you can't get in from that door anyway.
But you can try just for funzies. :P

Wow this is new to me. Off to the remains of the Whitehouse.

It did strike me as being odd that they didn't include the building. Maybe legal issues doing it?

Most probably, that's why they have it, but no details, it's just a hole in the ground.

Nope. I picked it up plenty of times on the console without Fawkes' help.

Wow... I stepped through the door after Fawkes for the lulz and it said like 60rps. I don't know if it went any higher, I slipped outta there like a lubricated eel.

If you want to speedily use it, use the hotkey button. Really all you need is a high rad res. I have a natural 51% Rad Res, so I'm not considered with medium ranged radiation. xD

Best thing to do to get there is use the Metro access behind the National Archives. Then head west when you're on Penn. Avenue. There will be a tunnel access just to the right of a BOS Sand barricade. Go in, head turn left when in side and it'll lead you inside. One note, it will likely have Glowing Ones in the crater. All in all, it's worth it, it has a fatman, three or four mini nukes, and two or three rad-aways.

Welllllll...
I was on a very experienced character(back on the 360 when I never did the MQ) and after loads of Radaway/Rad-X buildup, I was able to do it. All you have to do is overdose on Rad-X and hotkey Radaway. You really only need 10-15 Radaways to make it, depending on your overall rad resistance.

Well, I don't know about you men (and women) but it was a little more than a hole in the ground for me. I found a Glowing One and a Feral Ghoul there as well as the possible remains of a White House official holding a FatMan. That was just my playthrough though. A lot of people report different things.
