White Vertibird in new OA Screenshot.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:19 am

The Bethesda Blog and screenshots section shows a new picture with a white Vertibird. How come in the Museum of Technology on the model it states that this particular model was being pushed for service in 2085 yet it was active in the Liberation of Anchorage? Did they use Anchorage as a means of active combat testing or has Bethesda already forgotten it's already akward storyline?

The battle of Anchroage is a scenario based on What-Ifs for battle training. it is not a historial simulation

I, was lead to believe that "Operation Anchorage" was some form of historical re-enactment? Otherwise, if its simply a simulation...then by all means, they should throw in a few Willy's Jeeps, and Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw's for good measure.

How could it logically be a historial reinactment when there are no historians to write the history?

from IGN: http://uk.xboxlive.ign.com/articles/937/937202p1.html
IGN: How will the simulation of the battle work? Will we be teleported to a new area or will it all take place within a computer?

Gardiner
: Since this is a simulation of a battle that took place in the past, it is taking place within a computer. It's a "what if" scenario, created by the Government in order to test different counter-offensives against the red menace.

In all honesty, I can't say that I'm looking forward to "Operation Anchorage". From the screen shots, that I've seen, and the whole "stealth armor", it has already sparked my disappointment.

The US Army could have simply been testing the use of Vertibirds in VR first, before they were actually implemented.

Could be the one present at Anchorage was an earlier model, while the one pushed back to 2085 was the upgraded variant with cup holder and go-faster stripes.

Or maybe the Vertibird was never 'officially' at Anchorage.

I cant say I'm looking forward to it either. But I'm just not really interested in the concept.

That's reasonable. I remember flying a simulated Osprey in an old flight sim long before the kinks were worked out in the real deal.

This quote answers the question, I think:

http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/fallout-3/946136p2.html - Jeff Gardener

Though it's about the T-51b Power Armor, I think it could be applied to Vertibirds as well.

Aye, maybe the actual battle of Anchorage was pre-mature and the government planned to retake Alaska when they had both Vertibirds and T-51b armors fully made and deployed? *shrug*

Most T-51b Power Armors where deployed in the Yangtze Campaign front in China, so America and China where fighting on two fronts and on distant shores. T-45b or T-4x where still deployed as mainstream on the Anchorage. You could essentially even say this simulation could have been a training session for the military, think Call of Duty meets Flight Simulator. All aspects of military forces where included, chinese navy, chinese air force, US Navy.. etc etc etc.. all in one simulator, the one your going into for OA is a simulation for mainland warfare and finding an effective solution against the chinese invaders, coincidentially the sim is programed where T-45b/x armor was not the mainstream and T-51b was issued to everyone there.
