Whiterun smaller than Bruma?

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 12:22 pm

Yeah, I realize that it's not showing all the buildings, but that is one tiny major city:

Size doesn't really matter, it's what's available in those cities. Megaton isn't big but serves it's purpose same goes for Bravil.

I didn't think Bruma was all that big to begin with. Compared to some of the other cities, possibly. Hard to tell from a distant overhead view.

Are you comparing a city in the world map to a in-game city?

You're completely paranoid about the world size.

I agree. Skyrim could take place in one small room as long as that room has lots of intricate details in it, right?

That's the point. Bruma was the smallest of the Oblivion cities, and Whiterun appears to be about the same size as it or smaller. Nine major Oblivion cities, five major Skyrim cities and one of the major Skyrim cities is smaller than the smallest Oblivion city.

It looks like that city is pretty large to me... some of it is obscured by clouds

I don't like the terrain glitch just to the left of the city in the pic. But, the city is too far away and the simplified LOD makes it impossible to really compare it to Bruma.

I wouldn't say paranoid, just kind of pissed off about the fact that Todd and Co. continue to lie about the world and game size, and people just eat it up.

That's great Luke! You know where we're gonna put that? Right here on the fridge where everyone can see it. Right here. Now isn't that nice?

On topic, the town actually looks quite a bit bigger than Bruma to me. Maybe just the vantage point.

You know there is a little "B" button on the toolbar that can make your font not bold like that. Just a heads up in case you were wondering why your text was like that.

It is about the size of Oblivion measuring it by flatland. When you add in the vertical space it's about 20% bigger. Confirmed by Todd.

Link please.

If you can back this up with actual proof of Todd Howard saying or confirming that Skyrim's landmass is 20% bigger than Oblivion's, I will give you major props and admit I'm wrong.

BUT, I'm tired of people tossing out stuff as fact that they read from a random foreign language gameplay translation.

Half that place is obscured by fog anyway, though I don't expect big cities.
