Well when it states in opening, the world was consumed by nuclear fire. It kinda leads to thinking, that not just America, China, or Russia only felt the brunt of the nukes. I'm quite sure since Fiji isn't all that important, they probably didn't get hit, and are either under miles and miles of water, or all either ghouls or dead from radioactive fallout. But Europe being what it was back then, I'm sure they got hit just as much as America or other places.

Europe was already reeling after failed incursions in the middle east, with the European commonweath disolving into bickering nation states.

I know, but that doesn't mean some organization or faction, that grew out of the conflict couldn't/didn't get their hands on some nuclear weapons; and just let loose? I mean if your nation has nuclear weapons (or any other high powered explosive devise,) and suddenly your government crumbles into nothing but fighting, wouldn't you think that somewhere somehow, a group of radical fighters (or whatever?) could stumble upon the weapons, and use them to their advantage?

Depends on the narrator's perspective I suppose, I was under the impression that people didn't really know much of what happened outside of their relative areas.

I supposed no one would have been left untouched by such a nuclear disaster though.

I think Ron Perlman says it best during the intro to fallout one. "In two brief hours most of the planet was reduced to cinders." and In Fallout 2 "continents were swallowed in flames and fell beneath the boiling Oceans." "world almost being wiped clean of all life." it is safe to say that there is no "Oasis" left untouched by the war, unless it is in some unknown Vault some where in the world.

Yeah, I think if Australia wasn't hit by nukes, the ocean would have messed up a lot of the capitol cities before receding back, inland Australia would have been fine plus anyone inside vaults (Under the assumption that they had vaults - I believe most of the western world would have had them). I suppose most other island nations would have been royally screwed.

At least there's some hope for other nations surviving.

I am not sure if most other countries besides the USA could afforded to have such an extensive vault building program. The world before the war was on the edge of a great depression. Don't forget about the FALLOUT from all the Nukes going off. The worlds climate had changed greatly after the "bombs fell". Inland Australia is already close to a wasteland. Everything irradiated no more rain and all coast cities being flooded. China would want Australia and so would the States so they would Nuke it just out of spite "I can't have it no one can." If they would start a world Nuclear war then that would not be out of their scope to do. It does not look good for Australia.

I put down America cause well we've probaly have the largest population still alive (I don't really know). And AMERICA KICKS @#$%.


But then I thought the Chinese mixed with culture and their communist ways would probably have completed their goals by destroying America. Kinda like the Japanese in WW2.

There's 1,325,639,982 people in china compared to u.s.a's 304,059,724 Thats a hell of a lot more people but when nukes are flying who know's what will happen.

In the fallout world by the time of the Great war the numbers were greater but don't you think the USA would just use more Nuclear weapons to compensate for China's numbers? USA has enough Nukes to kill all life on earth like a 100 times over. Even If they used less then a quarter of that on China I see little chance of even Millions living out of a billion plus. With such a great big population they could never protect even a small fraction of that from the war.

China has such a large population because in the early years of communist China they had that Idea in mind if we have Many million even a billion people we will have millions live compared to thousands in Russia or USA. One thing they did not see was the advance of nuclear technology. They were thinking of Nuclear bombs as weak and hard to make as the ones used on Japan in ww2 not the big H-bombs that got so big and made so fast, that the USA and USSR crapped themselves over seeing them being used. In are timeline are leaders got smart and we agreed not to make and test bombs that big. In fallout time that never happened.

Nobody wins a fullscale nuclear war. Even with Science! and Fallout tech and plot armor, the whole world is a miserable fing place no matter what faction you join.

Er...no one wins a nuclear war. If both countries got nuked to hell, then how can there be a victor? We've never even been able to see China in the Fallout games (kind of making Styles' points invalid).

Yeah Mothership Zeta should not be canon at all. Aliens have only been in fallout as a joke an easter egg kinda thing. we only saw them in special encounters and they are just for fun. wanamingos were and are not Aliens they were made by man with FEV. They just look like aliens and the people out side of the wanamingo mines did not know what to call them so they called them Aliens.

Its kinda amazing to see how paranoid people really were back then about the Soviets "getting ahead" of the US in the arms race, and easy to see how people got wrapped up in the myth.

Somehow the idea that Russia is outpacing the US by 90% in arms development and procurment, or the idea that Russia would "encircle and eliminate China" just don't carry any truth anymore.
