who are we?

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 9:36 pm

18, male. I've been playing video games since before I can remember. From SNES to now, it feels like I've grown up with them. When I found Morrowind on the Xbox... Hoo boy, it was love. Even after I moved onto other games, Morrowind kept a special place. Then I got a computer, got interested in programming, and re-discovered Morrowind, the CS, and MGE mid-2009. Never looked back, baby.

I believe that if, somehow, it were possible to merge Morrowind with NetHack, the result would be the most awesomest thing ever.

I suspect the demographics used to be younger than this before you lot *comes out of denial* I mean we got older. I think I was only 12 when my brother showed me this "game", he moved on not too long after but his sister continued having and on and off relationship with it ever since. I guess I never really grew up

Side question: How were you introduced to morrowind?

I'm a 17 year old male. Gemini. I enjoy modding, graphic design, Celtic rock and am looking for someone in the Tri State area.

Lol try the newspapers

Edit: Come to think of it, why is this in the modding forum? :o

61/m

I first played some text-based adventure dungeon game, keyboard or 'PC' terminal [?] to mainframe by fax, at the home of some computer tech, boyfriend of a friend, in about 1971. Seemed almost scifi at the time. And challenging. And slow.
Then paper based D n D because my sons and their buddies needed a dungeon master who would not shade the interpretations on the basis of birth order or who insulted whom at recess ... mostly.

The same sons repaid any kindness when they introduced me to Morrowind on X-box, about Christmas 2003. I think because it was 'the best RPG ever!' and 'you will REALLY like it!', I probably coughed for an extra game or something. X-box got slow to load, crashed and no mods so the rest was addiction inevitable. Oh yeah, and I had to wait for my turn on the X-box.

Modding?
Oh, there's lottsa time yet before I need to start into that seriously. Besides, I have found so many talented friends here who already do it so very well. :goodjob:
For which thank you all.

I didn't know Stuporstar was a girl. I always thought she was a guy until now. And not to be mean Lady Nerevar but I always pictured you being in your thirties for some reason. I think because when you write, it sounds very educated and grownupish, like an advlt. I would have never guessed that you were still a teenybopper. :P

It is indeed great to see so many old folks enjoying morrowind, my dad would be shocked (he's missing out) I think it's truly something to be enjoyed in retirement, when you haven't a worry and all the time in the world. When you're young there's so much you should could be doing, that may not be as viable as you age, like competitive sports. Gah I feel so bad now!

I know you thought that your poll was humorous, but it's mighty disrespectful towards older gamers. Someone does not deserve to get snide insults just because they are 50 or 70.

Well merunnin, wollibeebee's language is English so his nationality shouldn't affect his spelling and grammar. That being said The Greatness just lay off. This thread was put here merely to try and find out about what ages and gender most of the modders in the community are. Sure maybe some of wolli's jests in the poll could have not been placed there but no harm was meant and anyone of the ages that might have been picked at should certainly be beyond taking offense to what some kid on the internet said about there age in a poll.

So children, quit picking on each other and put your seat belts on. No, we aren't there yet :P

Alright, fine then, I'll play too.

25/m here, with a similar progression to Morrowind as Ronin had (though I got into pen and paper RPGs due to my older brothers at the stunningly young age of 5, so that would be the true roots that brought me here). Didn't actually discover TES until Morrowind was released on the X-Box, and I haven't turned back since. Basically followed the normal progression from there as well, playing on X-Box, discovering mods for the PC, getting the PC version, modding the PC version, learning how to tweak and adjust mods, and now I am fiddling with some of my own projects and doing testing for folks at times.

Wolli is a native English speaker, if he wants to divulge more info I'll let him do that himself, but I'll just say that geographically you're pretty far off as to where he is :P
