Who are TES players?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:58 am

In which way? Surprised there are so many or surprised there are so few?

It's possible that the argumentative nature of this particular forum may alienate some female forum members - hence a portion of our female population may never see this thread and consequently not vote in this poll. I suspect that if this poll were taken in one of the mods forums the results would show a significantly higher percentage of females.

That tere are so many.

Really? I'm amazed there are so few.

But, like I say, I hang out mainly in the modding forums. This forum has a distinctly different demographic.

You are right Pseron. I can name many female modders, voice actors. Alien Slof, Meek, Who Guru, Khettiana etc.. who lend their talent elsewhere. Also Korana and Princess Stomper. They just don't come in here. Some are off playing FO3 (awesome game), Some still modding away or playing.

28/M/Arena. but I skipped DF completely. I was still in highschool, guessing around '96ish I borrowed a friends copy, that I never gave back
I might still have a game magazine from the 90s reviewing Arena...but i doubt it. Could still be in a box in my folks loft though...

49/F/Arena/15

To above post: I picked up Arena from rave review as game of the year in GAMES magazine.

Quantity of females/olders - Whatever - just us players here is all that matters to me.

BTW: "Plant lady", "Maintenance Engineer", Admin Assistant, and bass player.

but...now we're less anonymous. Everybody still feel OK?

I agree. I mostly inhabit the Oblivion mods forum, I really like how such a large proportion of the long term, respected mod makers are female, perhaps that's why the mod forums are such civilised places.

It's not argumentative. Just a few asking obvious questions.

I'd wait a little for the day to run out and see who answers. Some played and had to move on until TESV. This may be a question more of who reads forums, not who played...

Regarding age, I remember from when I was an unregistered lurker that there was a guy in his 80's that used to post. The Elder Scrolls is truly a game for all demographics.

Are you talking about a Morrowind player?
Because I remember a Morrowind player, before Oblivion was out, who was in his 70s or 80s.

He posted many threads in the mods section about things he'd like to get fixed. Things that made sense in the game world. Such as crops owned by farmers and the likes. He was a very nice guy. :)

I am surprised about the 10% females who play....

Well, I remember there was a time that a poll exist at the Community Discussion Section where hundreds voted (it suffer from the daily purge). I think I remember about good 30%-40% are female. It also have a poll for fav color and age range.

I really can't remember, he must have been on the Oblivion forums because I don't go to the Morrowind forums. I remember that he posted quite often though. The last post I saw was on an 'how old are ES players' thread. He'd come back specially to make that post.

Are you thinking of Freestone, perhaps? http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/42408-freestone/

I am 34, male, my first TES game was Morrowind about 6 years ago and I am a lecturer and researcher in economics. Around the time Oblivion was released I would occasionaly lurk in these forums and I can clearly remember that most of the people were older than these days. I suppose that many people who are older than 30, like myself, are busier and they probably had to move on. I haven't played any Bethesda games for the last couple of years, other than Fallout 3, but I recently came back to these forums anticipating the next Elder Scrolls.

26, female, and played Oblivion first in 2006. I wasn't that impressed with it and so waited several years before trying Morrowind, which I liked much better. I downloaded the freeware version of Daggerfall recently but haven't been able to get into it.

Well, I am just curious about the profile of people who play TES games. And you may add your jobs in your answers if you wish, since making a poll question about jobs was impossible.

19, Male, Morrowind. Found it in 2003 & never looked back.

To you and those like you: do not feel old if you can still enjoy this sort of an experience, for you are young at heart and can still experience wonder. :)

That said, 318 people (the respondents to the poll thus far) doesn't even scratch the surface of the entire membership of this community, let alone the bulk of TES game owners and active players.

Well, if everyone that reads the post actually put their profile in that will tell a story of how many people love a great game. Not only that, but Im willing to wager, as you said, that theres plenty of people out there that love TES and arent even a registered member of these forums.

Long story short, TES has an army of supporters regardless of a favorite game

16 year old male. Started with Oblivion and eventually moved on to Daggerfall and Morrowind. Picked up Oblivion in summer of '06, so about four years.

degree from Purdue University, West LaFayette.

Boiler Up! lol...I just graduated from Purdue this spring.

Anyway, 22 / M / Morrowind / 7 years. I was first introduced to it when a friend from school lent me the game, telling me how cool it was that you could just go anywhere and do anything. It was so cool to just get lost in a world like that..... if I be a MW virgin again and play it again I would... *sigh*
