You know who's the ultimate good? The sweet rolls. They just sit there, covered in gooey icing and everyone steals them. They don't fight, they don't murder. They're the ultimate good.

A sweet roll killed my family. And now they're trying to pretend to beour friends.

Don't trust their lies. Like I would ever forget.

Sweet rolls murder you slowly, over an extended period, with cholesterol.

Thanks for the continued discussion guys. I think I am maybe over-hyping the Empire slightly in comparison to the strengths they had in Oblivion where they controlled EVERYTHING whereas in this one they did win the war against the Thalmor (look it up they did win but were just severely weakened) but had to sign the treaty of the White-Gold Tower to end the war.
Meh I don't like the elves.
In response to Ulfric being a racist, the Dunmer had fought the Nords for thousands of years. If they had equal rights they could rebel which is obviously a threat to Ulfric and a Nordic way of life. I don't agree with it but thats what causes wars.

The player is the only good guy. Even if he murders everyone.

Because the player is the one who decides who's morals are correct. :P

"So who are the good guys in Skyrim?"

That very question causes me to grimace, nothing against you OP, I get what you are asking, but for me the good guys died with the likes of superman and the lone ranger R.I.P, not that I'll miss them, I prefer the grey approach, unfortunately from what I've read else where on these forums, it's not grey, one of the factions is definitely out for their own selfish reason, such a pity, they could have made it the same for both factions, at least that would have made the choice a little more difficult.

The choice is hard enough. Trying to fit in with the back story and my allegiances from Oblivion ARGH!

They didn't win. They won the the battle of the red ring. This defeated the main army the Dominion had in Cyrodil, not the Dominion itself, and in doing so crippled the legions. The Empire then sued for peace knowing that it was the most advantageous time to do so (before another Dominion army could be raised and brought to bear - had this happened it's unlikely, facing a broken army, the Dominion would have agreed at all), the very fact that the terms were not favourable to the Empire tells of the finishing status of both sides. The Empire at the end of the war and signing of the treaty was not in a strong position and are trying to recover while not being seen as they really are, broken and fragile (not helped by Ulfric).
