Who are the Thalmor and what do they represent?

The most recent information we have about the world is 150 years out of date by the events of Skyrim. We really don't know hardly anything about the current state of the world.

The Thalmor and their ideological aims are directly related to the theme of Alduin eating the world, the conflict between Shor and Alduin.

A Mythic Dawn copy would blow, but they don't have to be that. They could be presented nearly anyway the writers can think of. I honestly don't have any ideas, but I'm steadfast in my assertion that they could be incorporated, and arguably should. I'm tired right now and don't want to have to think; maybe later I'll try and come up with some possibility that you guys would find acceptable.

the base of the empires might has always come from the nords, so you saying all their attention should be on medes empire is grossly underestimating the dominions strength. considering the fact that they are in a perpetual battle with the brass-god numidium, making their presence felt in some way in skyrim isnt much a stretch, and though i cant articulate specific ideas right now, im sure their is enough talent at bethesda to do it in a fresh way.

Guys, this is 150 years after the Infernal City. We don't know if the Medes or the Thalmor are around anymore, and if they are in what capacity. Its a bit too early to start determining if/how they will factor into the gameplay.

Agreed. For all we know the Thalmor have fallen to some new revolution. Let's wait and see. Hopefully the new book will give us a set-up for what the politics will be like in Skyrim.
