Who are they?

Okay....where is this tree? Is it the Great Oak?

They are able to attract the ancestor-moths through the application of finely ground bark-dust gathered from the gypsy moth's favorite tree, and through the sub-vocalization of certain mantras - http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=869966&view=findpost&p=12684564

Those moths have to eat occasionally.

Fyr could have any number of women - but prefers to sleep with three (or was it four) very nice bits of himself that he cut off - after 4,000yrs I guess he got a bit strange. series and rewards the players in mysterious ways!

Umm... they're his daughters. Not mistresses. :shakehead: And I'm not being niave. :stare: :)

"Yes. Well. Not 'wife' in the 'married' sense. But... you know. 'Paramour.' 'Consort.' Something like that. It's a bit awkward, really. Because... well... he made us, too, so, though we aren't really his daughters or anything, it's LIKE we were his daughters. Because he made us. You see?" - Beyte Fyr

Okay, so Fyr has some unusual hobbies. He also has a mindset that makes it difficult for him to bond with "normal" people, so he custom builds his mates. He is also deeply compassionate, and that, combined with his love of a good puzzle (practically a prerequisite to being a super powerful mage), has lead him to study corprus disease, and to provide a place for its victims to live unmolested by a fearful populace. He even freed his only slave.

He's also courteous to those who are courteous to him, which is more than can be said about many Dunmer, who toss the word "n'Wah" about like seeds in a field.

I don't think he is good people. He has his own agenda and makes no qualms with only furthering his own agenda. Most people in Morrowind tend to hide their real motives from you for reason of tact and social consideration. Fyr does no such thing and seems to be proud of it. Overall I consider him a jerk for not caring for anyone else and just trying to further science. Maybe he is misunderstood, but that doesn't stop him from being particularly selfish.

I can assure you that Divayth Fyr is the least selfish, the most altruist and generous Telvanni wizard ever, in the whole history of the five eras.

That's not really saying much though. In all truthfulness, the factions are a bunch of creeps. I found the ashlanders more friendly than anyone else usually.. and they didn't even really like me!

Fyr's motivations and inner thoughts are completely alien to us. He's 4,000 years old, so if he's slightly odd, it could simply be the fact that a mind which has been allowed 4 millenia to mature and develop is so far above our meager understanding as to be completely foreign. White Wolf Studios' World of Darkness products spring to mind. You see, they make a perfect argument for the unravelling and subsequent change that happens as the millenia roll by for their vampires, even going so far as to say that when vampires reach around a thousand years old, their "humanity" is gone. Now, the concept of "the Beast" from that game plays a large role in this, but beast or no beast, a millenia is a long time. You see loved ones come and go, nations fall and rise, etc. It really screws with your sense of perspective. That being said, Fyr could've been much worse. I liked the guy.

How is Fyr that old? Because he is a crazy-strong mage and Psijic?

To me, Fyr is basically Wierd, if they made him into a TES Character

Most if not all Telvanni Masters practice life-extending majicks somewhat akin to necromancy. Also, he's a Psiijic. Also, he's [censored]
