Divayth Fyr is one of the oldest living beings in Tamriel. 4,000 year old wizard pretty much sums it up.
Yes, he is a character in Morrowind.

I do not know of any Nu-Hatta though.

The fact you know them by name proves they're characters.

I think Nu Hatta is a member of the Temple of the One Zero, an institution we don't know a great deal about; either that, or I just don't know a helluva lot about it myself. He's written two documents: http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/nu-hatta.shtml and http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/nu-hatta_nu-mantia.shtml.

Divayth Fyr is/was a http://www.imperial-library.info/gttpo/ and is actually present and quite influential in a game's main quest, Morrowind's. He's approximately 4000 years old and is/was a councilor in House Telvanni. Fyr also runs the Corprusarium, a dungeon of sorts that houses Corprus victims.

edit: Sh*t. it was Temple Zero, NOT One.

Alright, thanks. Does Divayth Fyr actually appear in-game?
Also is The Temple of the One in any of the Nu-Hatta documents?

If this is correct, it would be news to me.

1. Well...yes. I said he's present in a game's main quest.

2. Not really. I think he consorts with members of the Temple of the One, but i'm too lazy to look.

edit: To paws: I recall reading a post someone made a while back that said he was a member of it, but in all fairness, I could have either messed up some info or just plain forgotten.

It was Temple Zero, not One.

Nu-Hatta is a Moth Priest of the Sphinxmoth Inquiry Tree. One of the old statue that covers his body covered with moths. One of the characters MK uses on the forums to deliver additional info.

The Cult of the Ancestor-Moth

For long the Cyro-Nordics had exported ancestor-silks to other regions, simple yet exotic shawls woven from the silks of an indigenous gypsy moth and inscribed with the requisite genealogy of its buyer. Under the Cult, however, ancestor and moth became synonymous: the singing and hymnal spirits of one's forebears are caught in a special silk-gathering ritual, the resource of which is used to create any manner of vestment or costume. The swishing of this material during normal movement reproduces the resplendent ancestral chorus contained therein-it quickly became a sacred custom among the early Nibenese, which has persisted to the present day. Monks of the higher orders of the Cult of the Ancestor-Moth are able to forego the magical ritual needed to enchant this fabric, and, indeed, prefer instead to wear the moths about the neck and face. They are able to attract the ancestor-moths through the application of finely ground bark-dust gathered from the gypsy moth's favorite tree, and through the sub-vocalization of certain mantras. They must chant the mantras constantly to maintain skin contact with the ancestor-moths, a discipline that they endure for the sake of some cosmic balance. When a monk interrupts these mantras, in conversation for example, the moths burst from him in glorious fashion every time he speaks, only to light back upon his skin when he resumes the inaudible chant.

Temple Zero, maybe, the mystics and superscholars whose various theories are like a sick cross of quantum physics and conspiracy theory. But he's not part of the Temple of the One.

Also, Sphinxmoth sounds like an Imperial Fort, meaning that his academic standing among Cyrodiil circles may be at least somewhat high (although with a distinct cap, considering the fact that he IS part of Temple Zero).

EDIT: All this about Nu-Hatta, by the way.

First, how the heck do you always have a quote handy... You're a walking encyclopedia man! Second. What little I have read on the order leads me to believe that they are not on the side of aedra or daedra, so umm.. where would they fit in? I mean has it been discussed what their intentions could be.

Also, why is old man div such a jerk? Any explanation than some 4,000 year old arthritis?

A jerk???

That's probably one of the nicest Dunmer you'll meet in Morrowind, in my opinion. Slightly eccentric, perhaps, but far from a jerk.

...unless you were just being random....

Divayth Fyr is good people! One of the more friendly and helpful folks you run into on Vvardenfel, second only to Cauis Cosades on the list of NPCs from Morrowind that I miss.

I don't think he is good people. He has his own agenda and makes no qualms with only furthering his own agenda. Most people in Morrowind tend to hide their real motives from you for reason of tact and social consideration. Fyr does no such thing and seems to be proud of it. Overall I consider him a jerk for not caring for anyone else and just trying to further science. Maybe he is misunderstood, but that doesn't stop him from being particularly selfish.

Hell, he's a wizard. That's what wizards do. There are worse wizards, especially in the Telvanni. He's "nice" in the sense he has a more pleasant demeanor than the others.

But anyways, the question has been more or less answered.

I had nothing better to do in highschool but I had to do something when the g-man took away my uranium and told me I couldn't build any bombs to hold the world ransom for one Million Dollars. :P

The Moth Priests are probebly the closets thing to organized ancestor worship in Cyrodiil. It doesn't really have any alignments other then your ancestors which in this case tracks back to the Aedra.

Fyr is a jerk because he doesn't suffer fools and most people are fools and boring at that.

No spoilers please

Fyr could have any number of women - but prefers to sleep with three (or was it four) very nice bits of himself that he cut off - after 4,000yrs I guess he got a bit strange. So he really is more of a jerk than has been stated! Maybe if you played the game through you would understand what that's about. You can create an uber-character and complete the MQ in about 8 minutes ... but you will likely take tens of hours if you go back to it. There is a video to prove this.

Divayth Fyr created a Coprusarium - he has what is possibly th elast surviving Dwemer living there and its a great place for sneaking about :)

Also if you like Lore there is no better way to ensure you read every book than in-game. Fan-sites can be very good, but they also make mistakes and bits get left out or subtly changed over the years. For examle I have read a book that it appears no one on a very famous site has read - because I played the game in a way that they would never have considered doing. Elder Scrolls is a players' series and rewards the players in mysterious ways!

I knew someone would say something. Morrowind had a much more in-depth and ingaging storyline and lore, but Oblivion had way better gameplay. I may still complete Morrowind someday...maybe.
