Who cares the most about Skyrim?

Post » Sat Oct 30, 2010 3:56 am

Playing around on Google Trends, I decided to see how Skyrim ranked up. Google Trends is simply a feature that looks at search terms and compares them region by region against all regions that have searched for that term. So, what you see is which places have Googled Skyrim the most. That does not truly equate with level of care, but it is a sign of greater interest among regions. There are three categories, which are Country, City, and Language. I'm going to exclude language because it's just a localization thing that doesn't matter considering Skyrim is the same in all languages. The results are interesting.

And there we have it. Norway is full of Elder Scrolls fans, and America doesn't seem to care as much as everyone else.

What do you all think? :P

Wholly surprising. I guess, more so for the USA. Scandinavian countries should be pumped.

It strikes me as kind of ironic that despite being an American game, that link seems to imply that most of the interest in Skyrim is from other countries, then again, Seattle does rank number two on the cities list, but the two cities at the bottom are both American.

Yay! Australia loves TES!

The first 3 results were pretty predictable. The 2 countries the game is mostly based off and the place LOTR was filmed!

Maybe it's because Americans are smart and know where to find info on Skyrim, so we don't have to google it? I have never googled it once and I cannot wait for it. So that's not really an accurate portrayel of who is more interested.

Ah, well, the Scandinavian countries have usually been ahead of the curve anyway, no surprise. However, Britain is beating the US, shame!

Come on America! Stop looking at Gears of War 3 and get excited for a real game!

Not surprised about Norway and Sweden, considering what Skyrim is.

I'm American btw before anyone asks.

No you aren't. Or you're a very boring one, that needs to be put out of his misery, because he's so boring.

The results don't surprise me. Skyrim = Scandinavia, after all.

Actually, if it's any indication of the overall interest in video games (and I have absolutely 0 data to show that), it gives me more hope for us Americans. Much as I love TES, it would be nice if people got outside more.

Just saying, if a video game stimulates you more than six and guns, you're boring.

But maybe video games get you kinky, and if that's your gig, fine. Who am I to judge?

Those stats are really rather meaningless when it comes to who cares more. I have my sites I look at for Skyrim info and go straight to those. That means I'm not using Google at all. So naturally, I don't contribute to those statistics. Does that mean I care less? Hardly.
