Also, just in case anyone wants to know more about the companies, http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/vv175/Proditus/ZeniMap2.jpg a while back. I knew it would come in handy someday.

id Tech is an engine made by id to run their games, like how Crytek made CryEngine. id is its own company, it just stuck it's name on the engine that it made. Crytek also likes to stick the "Cry" part of its names onto things it owns, whether it's CryEngine, Crysis, or Far Cry.

Yeah, they made Fallout New Vegas. Unlike those other studios, that was just a typical publishing deal, exclusive for who-knows-how-many-more of their games. It all depends on the deal I guess. They're not owned by Zenimax like id and Arkane are.

You're thinking of IdTech, which is a game engine. Id Software is the company of some of the best classic games ever, including the Doom series and the Quake series.

They aren't. You misread the chart. The part where Obsidian appears is under "Bethesda Softworks has games published from:". Its simply saying Bethesda Softworks has published some of Obsidian's games.

There is the parent company, Zenimax Media that owns Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda Softworks publishes a bunch of games (like Brink) and does all the inhouse beta testing and manages marketing and what-not. Then, they own Bethesda Game Studios, who make games. BGS is who makes the TES series, and who made Fallout 3, and assisted Obsidian Entertainment with Fallout: New Vegas. That is about as much detail as possible, so hopefully that clears things up.

PS. Splash Damage is not owned by gamesas. gamesas is simply publishing Brink for them.

Bethesda Softworks doesn't own all of those companies, just Bethesda Game Studios. The rest of them are owned by Zenimax directly, but do their publishing through gamesas.

The chain leads back to ZeniMax, that means ownership.

It leads there indirectly, which is misleading.

Yes. Much like Splash Damage (Brink) and inXile Entertainment (Hunted)

The entire chart consists of ZeniMax-owned companies, so it's redundant anyway.

Steam is also a very useful partner .... while protecting against piracy at the same time.

That's a load of crap, Fallout New Vegas was cracked within days of release. There's absolutely no benefit dealing with them when it comes to piracy, it's only use is to kill the second-hand market for their games. You can't trade them in or give them to anyone else since they're activated only to your account. Your only option when you've had enough of it is to throw it in the garbage, or let it collect dust on your shelf.

Bethesda Softworks owns NO ONE.

Several developers are owned by Zenimax Media, including Bethesda Game Studios.

Yes, they did make all of them, except for the mobile games (Dawnstar, Shadowkey, etc). Those were another division of Zenimax.

To add to this....Bethesda game studios is owned by Bethesda softworks and Bethesda Softworks is owned my ZeniMax Media
