WHo decided that vampire attacks would be a good idea?

Post » Sat Dec 14, 2013 8:17 pm

I arrive in dawnstar and everyone around me seems tense. Almost like there's a fight nearby. Weird there are no red dots on my compass.

Oh look there's a master vampire and a deathhound killing seren, rustlief, a guard, and some other npc. Well they are all dead now :stare:

I cant even kill the vampire when it one shots me while i'm trying to use mage armor.

The same moron that thought constant bandit raids and giants in hearthfire were a good idea. Probably the same git that made the hearthfire DLC to.

Nah, Gandal isn't that big a jerk. If any kind wizard is involved, it's either Sauruman or Tim.

Not a problem for me if you save before you FT. Never enter a city at night.

^^^This. I always wait till day before entering any city except Whiterun. At the gates of Whiterun, before entering, I check what the game time is, and if I arrive at night, I make sure it is between 2am and 3am for then there are no npc's roaming around.

I did a lot of fast travel at first, and I never ft right into a city. Always to the stables or in the case of Riverwood, the standing stone. I remember thread after thread about this, and when the next patch came out, I think they toned it down some. I do not know for sure. I hardly ever ft anymore, but it would be interesting to know. I did read somewhere that vampire attacks on towns/cities had something to do with the moons and their phases.

Huh, moon phases..That might be right! Or it could be the bad habit I have of FT into cites >_>

I gonna try a "NO FT" run with my current character but..How do I watch the moon phases?

I tried to FT to bandit areas or to the empire/storm cloak bases...the vampire hordes would have cleaned them out of all non essential before I got out of the loading screens.

Those vampires certainly worked fast! I never FT'd to cities at all, did the thing in one long weekend.

It is in the game guide. Here is what it says under world interaction

gargoyle attacks

vampire and thralls

vampires and gargoyle

death hounds

vampires and death hounds

vampires, gargoyles and death hounds

All the above attacks on a town occur at night (21:00-05:00) at level 8 or higher when you enter any settlement with guards. These are night attacks

All of the above attacks happen once you have shot a Bloodcursed arrow into the sun with auriel's Bow after completing Dawnguard Main quest, Touching the Sky. These are called eclipse attacks.

There are a bunch more under the world encounters. This is where I read it. In the game guide.

At least Vampires are killed using the console. I cant say the same for dragons. A character of mine was ambushed by vampires, Miraak's cultists, bandits and a dragon.Yeah

I hate when I get bit by a vampire. Have to fast travel and hope to not turn before I'm cured.

I have had that happen when I go to Riverwood, and it is nighttime, so I go to the standing stone and wait till day time. Then at least I do not have the vampires. lol

Carry some cure disease potions. The ones that cure all diseases.

I had thought that too, until I had a vampire attack during the day.

They probably did it in response to all complaints that nothing you did in Skyrim made any difference... Well, finishing the main DG quest does make a big difference :)
