Who did you sell your soul to? (Marry)

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:43 am

I currently have my eye on Mjoll the Lioness in Riften... Rawr :P. Who did you marry, why did you marry them, do you regret it OR who do you *want* to marry?

Ysolda from where? What two birds did you kill with the stone? (not a joke, asking what things you completed), how did getting married help her start a shop?

Mjoll the Lioness. Go for her.

Loved her cute Braveheart warpaint, the accent and her ability for being a quite formidable tank on high levels.
However, she is broken with the new patch which makes her very passive in combat(had to fix it with the setav aggression 1 command).

I am also pretty sure that *any* marriage options sets up a shop afterwards.

From Whiterun. She's usually wandering around the stalls, and asks you for a mammoth tusk. I married her as well, though in hindsight I would've waited a little longer and married Aela from the Companions.

Aela the Huntress, one of the Companion leaders. The first time she met my male character she told him, "I hope we can hunt together someday." They married recently. A dragon flew over without landing on the wedding day, almost like a celebration. It was pretty cool

She's got an anti-cheating weapon strapped to her back (a very large axe), it shouldnt be a problem...

Spouses tend to "start shops." I don't know if actually go to a stall and sell things, or anything, but they do give you a bit of the store's profit (usually about 100-200 gold a day) when you ask.

You can't bring Ysolda with you on adventures like you can with Lydia (and Mjoll for that matter).

You find Ysolda in Whiterun, near the marketplace. She wanders up and down in a skyblue robe.

I made 4 different characters and 2 of them I married. First one with Aela the Huntress (from the Companions Guild in Whiterun). The second time I married a mage girl from the Mage College.

Both Aela and the mage were nice to have around. Aela uses bow alot and has sneak, so thats handy if you are a sneaky character yourself. Lydia (and Mjoll, Uthgerdt and other heavy armor companions) all make alot of noise, so tougher to sneak up on mobs.

As for the shop question, the mage one I married and had with me on adventures also opened up a shop when I told we had to seperate for awhile. I parked her at home on a quest where I knew I'd have more use for Lydia and her tanking. When I got back home the mage wife said she had wanted to open a shop, and so she did. So I got money (100g per day) from her anyways.

So you don't need Ysolda to have a shop in your home.

So far I found Lydia to be the most useful one (and yes you can marry Lydia, but there is a trick to it... you have to open the Console, click on Lydia, then type in Addtofaction 19809 1 ... then you can ask Lydia to marry you if you wear the Amulet of Mara).

What I didn't like about the mage wife was that she was just wearing rags and I couldn't get her to look nicer by giving her some nice looking robes. She just wouldn't wear them. So I prefer the heavily armored girls like Uthgerdt, Lydia and Mjoll, or one of the other armored girls such as Aela, Njada and Ria (all 3 from the Companions guild). At least you can put some nice armor on them and have them look good too :)

I never bothered with marrying the girls that you can't bring with you on adventures, so if there is any benefit from the non-combat wives like Ysolda and Camilla Valerius, please post it. And like I said, the other wives also open up a shop and give you money, so thats not a benefit exclusive to non-combat wives.

Thanks for the post! I originally planned to marry Lydia but for a couple reasons I decided not to. 1. im on ps3 so glitch wont let me. 2. seemed like *everyone* wanted to marry her. This probably sounds rude but I also want to drag Mjoll away from that annoying little guy that follows her around all the time.... she's mine! Rawr! XD

Either one of the Companion twins; Farkas or Vilkas. Shame marriage isn't a buy one get one free deal.

The former is strong, kind and blunt, the latter; intelligent, prudent and well-spoken. Both are honorable, loyal, and independent. All these attributes are what I want in a man.

I actually have no idea = / But i'm very interested in how you managed to accidentally marry said blacksmith. and lol at the shifty-eyed way you describe pre-meditative murder.

I would prefer Lydia if I didn't have to use the console to cheat: Because at this point you can't marry her.

Ahh well funny story .. i was wearing my amulet of mara.. i was doing some smithing while in riften and decided to talk to the blacksmith to sell some stuff.. having clicked the A button too many times the only bit of the conversation i saw was "i am, are you" or something to that affect so i replied in the same way.. then tried to cancel the wedding at the temple and he just said the wedding will be the next day .. so i turned up planning on saying no at the altar (im aware its harsh but it saved me needing to bloody my weapon) but i was tapping A hoping to skip through the rest of the ceremony and accidently said ... i do .. :(

Or kissing, hugging, flattery etc for that matter. Being married in Skyrim is like having a good roommate that cooks and helps with costs than an actual mate. Fable's marriage system is way better than this. Hopefully, there might be DLC to give marriage more depth.

Go with Mjoll! Her accent reminds me of Tali from Mass Effect and it's so much of a "D'AAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW" moment for me.
