I am on my first play through and doing the railroad. I'll do the other factions on other characters. No special reason for the railroad. They just happened to be first.

This should be under spoilers because now I got to make my answer hidden

Spoiler
the Forged would be awesome because it felt like he was going to invite you in but it didn't lead anywhere

On my first and current character, it's looking to be the Institute. Seems the most fitting for my character's story and:

Spoiler
more so dramatic considering his close ties with the Railroad that will end in betrayal. Will make for a tragic yet...somewhat bittersweet conclusion.

As for a fifth faction, it would be the Forged, who I would introduce to the raiders of the Pitt and we shall further expand Ashur's empire into the Commonwealth.

Haven't specifically joined any one faction yet. I'm on my first playthrough and have done a few Minutemen quests, until I got tired of Preston. I've done a few Railroad quests, which seems like a decent bunch. Just visited the Prydwen and don't really like the whole BoS military style, so probably not going to be doing much of that. Ever. Or maybe I'll just do all of them in this playthrough and pick a specific route for my next one.

first was the Institute...but now I'm on a murderous rampage, not sure if any faction will like me by the ending quests..

and with that said, I would probably join the sentry bot army (forget the gutsys) to help aid in the good fight I'm working on..

I have played them all and now I'm trying to betray everyone. I don't think you can really betray the Minute Men, but the rest are Nazis of various kinds and I want a big blow up. I have this guy parked while I work out how to do it best. Bunker Hill will be a feast.

The new guy is Railroad so far and I guess we'll see. ;)

1) Minutemen

2) Minutemen

3) Railroad

4) Undecided Yet

5) BoS

I suppose it should be the institute just for the sake of argument, but I like some of the other options noted too.

Would love to be a Mutant or a Thundercat... Oh, sorry... Atomic Cat.

Railroad.

(Can't answer the poll, since there isn't a "none" option for the second part.)

Slaver and/or cannibal group for me please. I've done a goodguy run through I want to be evil now.

I went with the BOS for my first play through, which I realize some wouldn't consider as being "good" but its about as good as I'm gunna get. I'll never side with the railroad, stupid toaster hugging hippies.

Now that I've been through it 4 or 5 times, I'm beginning to agree with you. Sarcastic Nymphomaniac is getting old.

Institute at my first one, was the most interesting and immersive of the options, to me.

The other factions you listed below may look at bit cheap, with the exception of the forged , triggermen are looking cool and for how much i like the 30's-40's crime scenarios , they seem to be poorly designed and implemented.

That would work. You could have ranks in Atom Cats, Thundercat could be one, Battlecat is another. I'd join.

I only started playing a week ago. So far I'm working with the Minutemen (primarily) and Brotherhood of Steel. I like their stories and both seem to fit with my character's story as I envision her. I don't know who the Atomic Cats are but I'm a crazy cat lady so they're my 5th pick in hopes I might actually get to interact with a cat. (I've found 2 so far in game but don't seem to be able to interact with them as I can with dogs).

Sided with the Institute (which surprized the hell outta me).

I'd like to see an expansion to The Forged, and for joinable factions, the Atom Cats.

Cool to the core, dig?

I do not know, considering my current character is more of a thief/criminal character. As for the second, Would have preferred if I could join the Gunners (and make them more like a true mercenary crew).

Of all the factions, the ONLY one that seems to be concerned with improving the lives of The People ("We The People" in RL terms) is the Minutemen.

Spoiler
BoS is only present to beat the snot out of the Institute, Supermutants, Raiders, and Ghouls. That's a personal agenda rather than concern over The People.

The Railroad is only really concerned with Freeing Synths. (Like in Real Life Greenpeace is more interested in saving whales than in improving people's lives.) It seems from their perspective, "You are either part of the solution or part of the problem; with nothing in between."

The Institute really only sees people as guinea pigs to use in experiments. If Vault-Tec was still around, it would be the Institute.

For the second part of the poll, you really need to include Other and None Of The Above.

First play-through I sided with The Institute, as I planned to do before Fallout 4 was released. Second playthrough, I tried to side with The Brotherhood, got fed up with them, and ended up doing The Institute again. To be honest, I'm having a hard time figuring out a motivation to side with anyone but The Institute. Minutemen maybe, but I don't care to be Preston's [censored] personally.

Of the side factions, I like the idea of joining The Triggerman. Love me some good ol' La Cosa Nostra. Really wish you could do missions for Skinny Malone or Eager Earnie. Completely wasted potential there.

I also like the sound of this.

For Ashur's glory. :mohawk:

First play through was BOS and they remain my favorite. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning!"

Second play through was Institute, they are a very close second favorite to the BOS. "Mein Fuhrer!, I can walk!"

Tried the Minutemen, really wanted to like them, but the tedium got to me. "That burned down, fell over then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up!"

Tried the Railroad....and backed away slowly. "We all go a little mad sometime. Haven't you?"

can't vote, since i'd not join with any of the factions from the second list and the poll won't accept a blank.

for the first part anyway, i supported railroad and minutemen, for the simple reason they're the only ones that are at least kind of... sane.

and yes, mama murphy's perfectly sane compared to maxson or shaunie-boy in my book :-)

for your second question: i'd have joined the commonwealth hippies. :-)

that's for the same reason why i played rr/minutemen: because all the other choices sound like bunches of total jerks :-)
