who else think people are making up the "bugs?"

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 12:16 pm

Sorry, I like the game but it's buggy as all get out. Yes, I'm on the 360 version if that helps.

Companions disappear. Enemies clip through terrain. Some areas let you fall through the level. Particular scenes screw up, so you have to reload just to get out of them (the interview room in McCarran seems to be particularly bad at this). Hell, it still even has Fallout 3's Pip Boy glitch where it'll turn neon green and you have to reload to get rid of it.

Anyone else think that people are exaggerating, or even flat out making up all these stories of bugs and glitches just to have something to whine about? Not a single person I've actually talked to in real life has had any problems whatsoever with the game. The only people i've seen claim it was a buggy piece of trash are forum warriors.

My xbox was on for 20 hours straight playing the game and I encountered one single glitch the whole time which was to be expected when leaving the console on that long and is not an issue with the game.

The other thing I noticed is almost every one of the whiners bought the game of steam....well what do you expect when you buy a game from a distributor that hacks up the code and rearranges the file structure to make a piece of software proprietary to their client. This isn't the fault of the developer, it's your fault for not buying from a distributor that gives you the game in the state it was originally programmed.

The only problems im having is extremely long loading times when walking into buildings (opening doors) and fast travelling, it seems to only be the longer you play the game the longer those loading times seem to get unfortunately, the only real big scary game bug ive seen was when it was taken ages in the loading screen, (i was trying to exit the wranglers in freeside) so i decided to press the xbox guide button.. i got a white screen with black lines and the 360 froze... thought my 360 was about to die if im honest,

Firstly let me point out the platform you are on is important to knowing what is fixed. Because console manufacturers Sony and Microsoft charge money for game patches and that all game patches have to be tested by the manufacturer for quality control this significantly slows down the speed and frequency of console patches.

PC owners can download and install patches as often as the developer wants with no additional cost.

Unfortunately the advantage of PC owners is also the disadvantage...people with PC's can do almost anything with their computer and often the owners do, installing all kinds of rubbish, fiddling with their settings, installing third party mods that are not properly coded and generaly fumbling about upsetting the fine balance of their system which has an effect on games in different ways from improving them to ruining them. Then on top of this you add on to massive diversity of PC systems and software that can be combined, video cards, sound cards, motherboards, Ram, Monitor, Keyboard and mouse, Speakers, Controllers, Modem, Firewall, Anti Virus, Spyware scanners, Instant messaging software, auto updater software, Flash, Java, then add on all the driver updates for all these combinations and its a wonder a game can be designed for PC's at all.

I think some people have legitamte problems and I also think you are far more likely to see those problems complained about after the games launch than anything else because the happy people simply keep playing. I also think people don't know how to maintain their systems properly, they want to do whatever they feel like and they think they can get away with doing that all the time....often over estimating their own knowledge and understanding of what they are doing. When something goes wrong it is therfore automaticaly somebody elses fault because they know what they are doing and can't possibly be causing the problem.

If you are a PC gamer you really should know to have several saves in different slots for EVERY game you play and to update them reguarly in a staggered fashion. If you get a corrupt save you just load a previous save and can usualy recover within an hours gameplay if you save reguarly from either a quicksave, auto save or a backup save.

Fallout New Vegas is slightly less polished then it could have been, and there are one or two minor flaws but overall the fact that some people are having no trouble suggests the problems are not all down to the game as in fact some are down to the users systems.

I can't believe this thread has been still going, why moderators? You've happily locked anything remotely subjective, which last I checked was fine, so where are we here.

It's beyond pointless, why does it concern you if other people are having difficulties with their game. Your disregard for others is clear considering you have not realised what your accusing other people of. You use the Xbox, good for you, since FO3 still has the slobbering saliva of Microsoft all over it you can still be content in playing your game, congratulations.
Move on to NV, did you expect anything different. Try playing FO3 with the PS3 and now this, your toeing the line in my opinion. You should in fact be grateful that you can play your game for 20 hours and not have a complaint, but no you are quite content to ridiculously accuse other people of making up bugs. Yet I still can not fathom for one second why you have even came to this conclusion. Please enlighten me,

I can't believe the absurdity of that statement, fair enough competition bashing MMPORGs, which I have seen, but to what gain are we here. These illusionary bugs you so question seem to fundamentally appear quite often with similar results for the individual platforms, I can vouch for PS3. I have in fact seen the community replicate said bugs for the pure intentions of helping the developers, and to the end of helping themselves which I wholeheartedly applaud.

I'm rather aggravated that this thread has been allowed to continue, and no I am not super-sensitive; touchy.

Its like everyone forgot the issues with FO3 and Oblivion. Same problem give Josh and the devs some time it will be fixed. Im playing on Pc and have had a few freezes and frame rate issues but im patient and have not even started my serious character yet. Usually i do a few dry runs first. But 60 hrs in maybe 3 crashes (one of which required a hard reset) Praise the Lord for auto-saves.

Making up the bugs? Are you serious? You haven't encountered ONE SINGLE BUG in your game? I find that hard to believe considiering every game copy out there came from the same master copy that was mass produced. As much as I like Obsidian for their fine gameing record (Sarcasm there) The game starts to show signs of bugs after 10 ish hours of playing it. I mean total time played not 10 hours in a one day. The bug that really annoys me is the bug which causes crashes every 3-4 ish hours after you transit through loading screens. Its gotten to a point where I fear for my Xbox because I find myself constantly turning it on and off which I'm sure messes the console up in time, which I'll be sure to thank Obsidian for in future by sending them a bill to fix my xbox.

Anyway, on the whole though, from what I've managed to play, the game's story is really excellent and theres numerous quests and things to do but hold off buying it until a suitable patch or update comes out to fix it.

The reason the bugs have become such a big deal is because, half of the bugs in FNV, are actually game breaking... Controls locking up INDEFINENTLY ruining an entire save file, Freezing while loading so you cant leave a certain area or building ruining an entire save file.... I would say the game breaking bugs come across at least 25% of users, myself included....

The bugs in Fo3, and Oblivion, that I encountered were always work aroundable, and never game breaking, ever..

when my 25 hour save gets permenently locked up, cant even move the right anolog stick at all.... Its pretty bad and a lot of us have to suffer by going to replay the entire story and exploring all over again, I dont mind though now because Ive waited a few days for my anger to wear off, now Im excited to actually start over.... BUT CMON MAN. lol get it together Obsidian, I doubt they can even release a patch thatll help all the corrupt saves out there.

I doubt anybody is making up the bugs, I have myself seen many bugs already and it realy gets on my nerves when you come across some that stop you from doing certain things. Bethesda/Obsidian needs to get the bugs fixed..

Actually, I play the 360 version.....and I have seen the buggy crap. I also discovered a XP glitch/exploit in the sacrificial hall that gave enough XP to jump from 22 - 30. I have at least 2 freeze ups per gaming session (gaming session = 2-4 hours in a freezing room with fans and air conditioner running). I have a mission right now that wont let me finish even though I did everything it asked, and no I have on regular clothes that dont have a tie to a faction. So anyway, I didn't buy the game from steam. I bought it from a retail store for a console, and yet I still see the bugs. Am I complaining? No, because I am still enjoying the heck of this game even with all of its hiccups. I have a buddy that we both get into party chat and play at the same time, and he is experiencing the same things that I am. So to answer the question, no these things are not exaggerated.

I'm on the 360 and I've had game-breaking bugs that caused me to totally delete my character and start over, so consider yourself lucky that you got a "good" copy of the game. I can assure you that the bugs I encountered and posted under the 360 technical issues section are not made up. I joined this forum specifically because of the problems I've had with this game and I'm normally just a lurker, not a whiner, and not really into posting - definitely NOT a "forum warrior" ... but these NV bugs are unacceptable.

So, again... consider yourself lucky.

I understand, I actually am usually a pc gamer but I have an xbox as well because sometimes I just want to be lazy and lounge on a couch playing on a 50 inch screen which I can't do on the pc.
