Who else is waiting for Connary to play Morrowind?

Post » Fri Sep 17, 2010 12:24 pm

As much as I admire connary's work its not enough to stop me from playing the game when I want to. Not to mention that I've been modding more than playing the game for a while now. :whistling:

It also might be 2012 when connary finally releases his finished product. I may be a pretty patient person, but I'm not willing to wait that long. :bolt:

That Silt Strider is awesome indeed. It appears that Connary has moved on into bump mapping and reflection? One thing I noticed though is that his work still appears to have the brown palette. I always mix his textures with other texture packs or simply change the tone of his textures because almost everything he does seem to be closer to the brown spectrum of the color wheel. @AnOldFriend textures which, btw, is the new kid in the block with his wonderful work, is more closer to the violet spectrum of the color wheel. One thing Bethesda did right in MW was having a better color balance though a bit wash out.

I greatly admire Connary, but if I would play, I wouldn't wait. But I too mod more, than play.

*raises hand...well, halfway*

I am kind of waiting on connary's textures, but then, I'm also waiting on a few other mods, like the updates to NoM and Homes to Let. That and like NMZmaster and Alaisiagae, I'm playing other games at the moment in an attempt to cut down on http://backloggery.com/tyraarane.

Uhhh...never mind that I'm mostly playing Oblivion at the moment. Shhh.

Lol, I know, and I'm pretty sure it was a wet dream for Connary to re-create this brownish creature. It's right up his alley, or should I say, his palette.

All the color and saturation of my textures has been recalculated to resemble ''exactly'' the vanilla ones. I reworked all the textures with the original like a reference, i never did that in the pass, i worked from other replacers as a base. This is one of the reasons of the long time work. Im desaturating things yet. And yes the original Silt is brown with some white parts.

I am actually playing with all of your mods now even though you cant get them anymore on planetelderscrolls (got them another way). Another example I know everyone seems to like the mod bookjackets, but I like your mod better with no esps. While your mod doesnt give the name of the book on the outside but your redo of the books stand out and makes you want to walk over and inspect them. I am already sold on your originals!!! Great job if you are planning on improving what you have already accomplished!

Although I am eagerly awaiting his new work, I don't need it (or any other mod) to play & enjoy MW.

Personally I do not spend my every waking moment playing Morrowind. I played it from start to end, all quests, and many mods a few years ago. Since then I just have been keeping tabs on MGE and it's evolution, Connarys compendium and other community innovations.

I have been wanting to play Morrowind again, but I would like a few things to get into release before I give it a go from scratch. After all, why start now and complete the game, it is not like it would be quite as much fun playing it right after just because Connary made a release. No, it is better to wait and experience everything again like it was new.

Connarys complete compendium will transform the game, it will give Morrowind a major facelift. Mind you, I might even wait longer as the latest Beta Code Patch seems to add beautiful shadows and that would transform the game even more.

But do not feel rushed by people waiting Connary, can not rush quality after all. ;)

Walk around the game world a little, most things are brown, or worse, grey. The colour palette is not Connarys choice, everything seems to be in keeping with the original, which I believe is Connary's intent.

Exellent!! Sorry if I was so anol about the color palette thing. I'm an artist and in art school I was traumatized by my damn teacher with her, "it's not the right tone!" Anyways, great that you're changing. I know artist who go through color periods(like Picasso "blue" period). Maybe I should considered your previous works as your "brown" period.

I think your answer came a bit late my friend. Connary already realized what he was doing wrong in terms of color tone. MW had brown colors as well as greys but there were subtle that's why Connary said he was going to "recalculate" the color/tone of his textures.

To answer this thread's original question-- I still play the game, but I usually end up godmoding and testing one mod or another of mine. I'm going to give it a serious playthrough again once the compendium and Westly's pluginless head/hair replacers are complete.

Well, then I guess your palette criticism came a little late as well, didn't it?

Anyway, I considered waiting for the texture pack myself, but then I just wasn't patient enough. I would've liked to start MW blind and then be completely amazed by everything I see though.

Also, I simply love every thread about connary, because he always treats them with a couple of teaser screenshots. :D Don't stop thinking of possible discussions concerning his work, people!

I am certainly not waiting for the Compendium to play Morrowind, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing it one day. My game consists mostly of his stuff, with assorted other things chosen to fill in the gaps.

TBH, I am. I feel that if I get too far into a new game without a mod, I will miss out on something.

I was around this forum when Psychodog Studios was making Better Bodies, and I do believe that was one of the most expected mods ever for this game. That was one hell of a revolutionary mod, and I believe this mod is on par with that< the level of detail is stunning, you can almost touch the glistening shell of the Silt Strider. Amazing

Yes indeed. Even the under belly of the Silt is as good as the outside. This is the type of artist that I like. Never leaves anything to chance. This Silt looks so good that I wouldn't be surprise if people will mod it and use it later as a pack guar. Heck, I will probably ride it with a matching armor, lol.

Yes, I agree, that silt strider is damned good, one of the most realistic looking anything I have seen. I think connary might singlehandly best oblivion just by himself.

While not waiting specifically for connary to finish, I am waiting to play morrowind until sometime august when I will unlikely be interrupted by school or anything. By then I hope that the compendium is out and that the major update to uvirith is complete. I also hope by then that TR has released more stuff, they have been at it for going on a year and a quarter now and while I realize its hard work, thats still a very long time to wait. If not, I at least hope by next summer for any of this.

NO, it's not to put any pressure on him!!! I know he'll we working on it as fast as he wants.

I didn't mean anything bad by it. Just trying to remember modding is better when it's fun.

What can i say? Im very surprised and pleased about the participation in this poll. All people sharing freely his position and opinion. SkyDye dont worry and thanks for trying to protect me, you know that i was a bit overwhelmed and stressed in the pass, no more.
I repositioned things time ago and the modding activity has become more intimate, i definitely found this activity relaxing, deeply evasive/immersive and fun. Perhaps as taken his position over playing games that at today standards don't give to me such a pleasures.
Its wonderful discover than today there are people that has decided to wait for the compendium to start a new playthrough. Makes me proud and happy. Also this only encourage me to make things better and learn a bit every day in the hope to offer a nice game experience add on in the future.
I decided time ago that i no need to hurry in any way, the game must be played when everyone decide its the right moment with or without any mod. Some real improvements appear every now and then and must be taken like a gift. I had been gifted repeatedly for the majority of the people of this community by hundreds of game improvement that amaze me and makes me desire to play this game again. The compendium will be a way to balance things and share my passion with you all.
Thanks for the nice attitude, also the educated natural opinions of any sign, i no need right now a ego surfing but it will be discourteous for me if i not said that i'm very pleased for the constant support and kind words spilled in favour of my work.

Saludos
