Who's excited about the upcoming patch?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:06 am

They must have been working on it for some time before the game's release, so hopefully it will be chock full of goodness. I expect lots of fixes, and maybe even balance tweaks (hopefully). It can only make an already great game better.

But the floodgates of excitement will only be open when the CK is released :celebration:.

My only concern is; what will happen to those of us that have a perfectly working game? While this patch may fix things for those of you who are having massive issues with it, I fear that this patch may have an opposite effect for the games that are working fine.

One of the few without problems it seems (PC). I'm not touching any patches until I finished the MQ. Steam in offline.

Maybe you missed the fact that a patch was distributed three days ago and caused massive problems to people who had the game (mostly) working.

The only patch I saw was the one when I started up the game for the first time. I'm on the PS3, so I have not seen a patch since.

Maybe no more horrible texture glitches? Perhaps I can finally buy the house in Markarth? A slim chance of Destruction not svcking... topped off with the vague possibility of a fix for ridiculous crafting exploits? I might indeed just be excited.

Oh, you will be here to post, like I am doing now... And then you will understand what it is like to walk in my shoes...

No way to revert back to what worked, and just sitting around waiting for the NEXT fix... In the hopes that it fixes the new problems it created for you. Though, I hope it does not harm your game, as I am already jealouse that many here can play, where mine keeps failing me.

Having an option to "bypass" updates, as they come... would be great... like how the "Onofficial Oblivion patch" was... You could just disable it if you found it broke something along the way.

Yeah, I see your point. However, I would not wish for a harmful patch on my worst enemy. You can bypass the patch requirement by signing out of PSN or for those of you with a PC, unplug your ethernet cable.

This, I fear it will break my game more. We all know the Shiverings Isles bug around easter that would destroy savegames :P

I'm hoping it will fix the slowdown issue on PS3. If it doesn't I'll be seriously cheesed off.

Not so much excited, but it'd be nice to know some of the technical issues are being dealt with. Xbox 360 texture issues and (personally) PS3 save game lag.

As it happens I'm closing in on 8Mb on savegame, and lag hasn't hurt me much at all, I wish I could pin down what i've done differently. Naturally there are occasional lags that make it clear it will one day be game breaking.. but I could myself fortunate the whole thing didn't degrade to unplayable limits before 6.5Mb.

It's hard to be too optimistic about the patch.

Due to the way things are scheduled, Q/A and console processes - the majority of this patch will likely have been planned (and possibly developed) prior to release.

- bugfix for mouse "misfunctions" on PC menus.
- possibly improvements to PC performance on specific hardware.
- quest bug fixes.
- fixes for the various PS3 issues.

I'd love to see more, but I suspect the patch will fix "bugs that were just short of being release blockers".

Meh. I've yet to suffer from most of the stuff people whine about here but I will be glad to see that arrow bug gone. Being forced to use the "sixchange" console command to remove those damn things kinda hurts my roleplaying...

Hoping for dual wield balanced to make it less OP. I just made a redguard dual wield ranger and everything everyone is saying is that I will be too powerful...I may reroll to 2 handers...I hope it gets some balance.

The current state of the game has taught me to not hold my breath. Well, I'm not holding my breath for the patch. Don't count on it solving or improving anything substantially.

And if I'm wrong, enjoy being pleasantly surprised.

Just run around untill you find someone else with a bow and let them shoot you again. Last arrow will disappear.

Still using the unpatched version of Skyrim. Since I'm having very few issues with running the game I have no reason to fix it.

My motto: If it ain't broke, don't fix it...and Skyrim ain't broke...yet.

Why exactly would they have to fix an exploit in a single player game?

I don't use the exploit and the game is perfectly fine to me.

I'm very excited

Well i will be if they say they will fix the mouse clicking problem in menu's/speech/haggling screens. And any quest related problems that i havent come across yet.

If they manage to squeeze in extra hotkeys (such as CTRL + 1 etc) then that would be brilliant, but i cant see it.

The amount of times i've quite haggling or asked a different question when in dialogue cos of the mouse problem is relly annoying me now.

This. I know there are plenty of things that need fixing, but the fact that the game is unplayable for so many people on one of the three platforms needs to take a priority.
