Who goes for a PERFECT playthrough?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:27 pm

Examples of a perfect playthrough-

  • You help all the NPC's in all their quests with the best outcome possible in the game (including all the non-repeatable miscellaneous quests)
  • All unrespawnable NPC's not scripted to be killed stays alive the whole game
  • All unique weapons/items are collected and stashed in your completely upgraded safehouse
  • You fully upgrade everything/everyone the best way possible in the game
  • Everything is done right for all the factions you support in the game
  • Other (you can add your own - you reverse-pickpocket power armor on every NPC?)

Who will go for a perfect playthrough at least once?

I do not think there is a way to play a perfect playthrough in a Bethesda Game.

I will be looking to play the most unperfect playthrough and just have fun exploring Boston and the region.

I've played perfectionist playthroughs on FO3, NV, Oblivion, and I'm almost done with my perfect Skyrim playthrough. I used a character editor to make my stats all high at the start.

I try to do most quests on my first play through, as many as the game allows without choice.

Perfect in the grand scheme of things is subjective.

Maybe for your first playthrough, but by the second time you'll know what's going on and can strategize ahead.

I voted "Yes." I always do a perfect first playthrough in these types of games. Then a I don't give a **** second playthrough.

A Bethy game with a perfect play thru, is that possible?

After a couple of games and know all about the quests, loots, etc ,etc then I try a game that is a perfect play thru.

It's very possible if you save a lot.

M first playthrough usually involves a lot of rushing to unlock as much area and stuff as possible before doing side-quests,which often ended games for me before playing the sidequests, even if i try to avoid that. Even though i think we will be able to play after the maon story, making the idea if a "perfect playthrough" a bit silly.

I used to try to play like this, but I have gradually tried to move away from it since I feel like it is easy to just treat the whole game as one big task that needs to be finished. Like every quest is another task you want to just be over and done with and also it can get a bit stressful to always try to do everything right, pick up everything and talk to everyone and on top of that do all the "right" decision without even knowing you are. It can quickly lead to me getting a bit anxious.. It is hard though to step away from it since it is so ingrained.

I have instead tried to go toward a more roleplaying approach and since I love consequence I will probably start playing Fallout 4 as Dead is Dead so that pretty much works against a "perfect" playthrough. I actually hope you can't actually do everything with one character, like you could not please everybody in Fallout New Vegas. Its possible I would do something like that at some point, but when thinking about it though I don't know if I really want to 100% the game since that takes away the "magic" a bit of discovery when you know you have done "everything". It is nice to know you never know if there is something new out there you have not seen. How do you plan to go about knowing when you have 100% btw? There is no % stats in the games, you know of some good guides for it?

I will probably take manual notes of some things though over many playthroughs, like bubblehead locations. Since I will play DiD and my characters most likely will die before they can gather a full collection it could be fun to keep track of the ones i find to gather them all with some character later. Also if you wanted you could always load up an old character and take notes of what quests he have completed, then make a big list of all quests in an excel file or something for all characters. That way you could play quite freely but still have a "100%" quest finish (an a real 100% since you could do it for all factions) over many characters instead of one. You could have a crazy collector character that tried to gather all bubbleheads and other things, maybe building a museum in the wasteland, then another character that does the main quest, then another that is an explorer etc. After their adventure is done you could record all their quests and findings in a big document and get "100%" perfect playthrough that way. Just an idea. I will probably keep track and keep some "mementos" of my characters that way.

I would never do this. Imperfection is what is interesting to me about life and about roleplaying as well.

I used to have specific RPs in Fallout but now playing god characters is fun :)

Specific RPs end too soon for me :(

My first play is usually far from perfect as I'm just playing the game and trying to tell myself a good story. The second time around (now, with mods) is most likely to be closer to a 'perfect' conclusion, as knowledge of the game allows me to avoid most of the poor decisions. After that, I'm usually playing off a theme in a heavily modded game where pretty much anything goes ... though I always quickly lose interest when I attempt to play villainous characters.

I do tend to play goodguys who try to help people, but beyond that..... nah, the whole "max out all skills, find all collectables, gather all uniques, do all quests" thing just isn't a focus.

(You know, across all my plays of Fallout 3, I don't think I've found all the bobbles and I definitely know I haven't found all the unique weapons. Certainly never all in one playthrough.)

And I'd more likely call it "100% completion", rather than "perfect". There doesn't seem to be anything perfect about it.

edit: I wonder if you'd even be able to do "get all collectables/uniques/etc" while also playing a 100% GoodGuy. There's usually bad stuff you need to do in order to get access to some items.

Being a 100% good guy isn't a requirement, you can kill off the NPCs that go against your ideology or belong in factions you don't support.

I've never been a completionist. By perfect game I generally mean obtaining the best results in all the quests. If I know doing a certain thing (like getting the ghouls into Tenpenny Tower) isn't going to end well, I usually never do it again.

Typically, by the time I've finished the main storyline, I'm ready to re-roll a new character, so I don't ever expect I'll have a perfect playthrough.

No, never will, and never have. Imperfect play throughs are one of the reasons for me to go back, and replay as someone new. Making mistakes, and doing a mission one way that ends up going another, is all apart of the fun.
