Just curious, who plans on continuing to play New Vegas until the next Fallout comes out and not going to Skyrim?
I have temporary short bouts about contemplating playing Skyrim, and then I remind myself how much I hate elves, magic, and fantasy. If I played Skyrum, I would end up playing as a big dumb ass with a sword and there's only so much you can do with that, lol.
It's the same bouts that forced me to watch the first Harry Potter film and all three Lord of the Rings movies, causing me to put my finger down my throat, and thinking to myself "why in the world did I think it was a good idea to watch this?"
So I can say for certain I will not be buying Skyrim. I like the New Vegas lore too much to hang up my revolver.
Kind of this. Not all though.
I don't like fantasy that takes itself seriously. But I like fantasy like what Terry Pratchett writes (such humor and pop culture references) and the game Magicka which doesn't take itself serious at all.
But then, I also like fantasy like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, I guess they are exceptions. But HP is kind of lulzy, I guess. Much of the magical things there are, and the magical characters. Then it's ok with the darker storyline when the magic doesn't take itself too serious. With Lord of the Rings I guess it's because.... it is
very dark and serious? Ok, so I still hate elves (in every fiction there is, even Warhammer and I moreso hate the space-elves, the Eldar, in 40k) But mostly it's just humans, or short humans, or dwarvish humans, or humans with a bit of pointy ears.... versus disfigured evil human-esque creatures (maybe I like these orks because I'm a huge zombie fan?). Oh, and they aren't CGI. I hate CGI, or too much of it at least. The magic in LotR is also not a lot of fire balls and bolts of lightning. It's like an invisible push force, or a crystal that lights up, things like that. That is cool. As long as it isn't too visable and over the top like in the rest of all fantasy (except when it's over the top for the comedy).
Actually, I think the same about sci-fi. I don't like too much high-tech either, like people with shield auras around them or other things that shines like magic. It's cool if it has a kind of uniqueness to it, like in Fallout, where high-tech is kind of rare unless you raid the BoS or Enclave. If I take StarCraft for example, Terran was the coolest with their "dirty-looks high-tech" (the best way I can describe it), and I never liked the Protoss. I haven't ever tried StarCraft II yet though, because I never liked the look of the new Terran marines, they looked far too high-tech and over the top sci-fi. I'm very picky, and I also don't want http://fc09.deviantart.net/images3/i/2004/148/5/e/Wallpaper_Starcraft_Ghost.jpg in my games. Sci-fi or fantasy,
that always has to be in.
