Who has been filling Codsworth's fuel for 200 years?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:03 pm

Why didn't he run out during the 200 year period? Could someone explain to me why he is still full of fuel?

I do believe that most of the robots in the Fallout Universe run on NUCLEAR POWER! And we've seen in terminal entries and other such things that other nuclear powered devices in the fallout universe (Power Armour, Bunkers, Cars) have charges that can last hundreds of years. So it's not implausible that Codsworth is still chugging along on his original charge.

Yes but the "Mr. Handy" models are run off of fuel as you can find it when you kill and loot one.

We also see some kind of charging station at some point I believe. Someone pointed it out in one of the videos. I mean, the same can be said of all the little generators keeping lights on and such. Those, we know aren't nuclear. Somtimes you just gotta say "alright" before overthinking spoils it. Pretty much all of the buildings we see wouldn't be there after 200 years but in order to not have a big empty space littered with rubble, we have to accept some things to just be done for playability.

The "fuel" is used for other operations, not their propulsion itself. An since he's been waiting around to make dinner for 200 years, he likely hasn't been using those auxilery functions. But again, it's just one of those acceptance things. True reality doesn't breed for a very fun game in Fallout's case.

Fuel Gnomes. Helpful little guys. They got bored with making shoes after the bombs fell.

I don't question it.

I've played games where whole cities were kept aloft by the power of SCIENCE, and on occasion, DA MAGIKZ.

Robots run on fusion or nuclear cells so they dont really run out of power.

Would have been cool to find Codsworth in the home, shut down, and you can start a short quest to scavenge fuel or supplies to get him back in working order.

Codsworth runs on the blood of mutants. You don't give a robot a buzz saw and a flamethrower without programming it to kill...

Mr. Handy's probably create their own fuel out of the air (by svcking out the water vapor and then splitting the hydrogen off from the oxygen), making use of NUCLEAR POWER to do so.

(either that, or the same people who go around distributing trash and uneaten food around the Wasteland and repair buildings to make sure they can stand for hundreds of years also refuel and maintain the robots)

The fuel comes from the flame thrower/ blow torch. If you do a bit of reading you will find that they have self-maintenance modes. Plus, as mentioned, they are powered by a nuclear power unit, 238B to be exact.
