I've finished all three main quests at least once, in fact, I just finished the original Morrowind main quest with my current character, this time with Darknut's Greater Dwemer Ruins installed (I've played it before without it, too, of course.) On the other hand, on many characters I've played, I've never even spoken to Caius. And some characters did get to various different points within the main quest, but never finished it for a number of different reasons. Morrowind is really one of those games where you could easily ignore the main story and still find lots to do. In fact, while it is the main quest in the sense that it's the central story of the game, and the one that, in that the whole thing is the reason why you're in Morrowind in the first place, and its the quest that has the biggest impact on Morrowind in the long run, but it's still a reletively small part of the overall content of the game. Players who assume that just because they've completed the main storyline means they've seen all the game has to offer will miss out on a lot.
Myself, despite having completed the main quest, I know there's still a lot of side quests I've never completed, and places I've never explored.
