Who has a game above TES?

Post » Fri Sep 09, 2011 5:22 am

Maybe. The list of games I've played the most:
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Age of Wonders
Diablo II (+ Lord of Destruction)
Might and Magic VI-VII(especially VII)
TES IV: Oblivion
Race 07(+ it's expansions)

For each line there are new games, for the strategy line there is Heroes 6, didn't download the demo though as according to the system requirements it won't run on my PC. If it's better than Heroes 5 though, it can be probably a game that I'll play just as much as the 3rd Heroes after I got a new PC. (it won't be nowadays though)
Diablo III is also coming, but I'm not really sure about it, will have to see further details to decide.
And on the role playing line, I'm a total fanatic of TES now, and waiting for Skyrim, but I'm sure if there was a Might and Magic X announced, with seemingly great features, I would be just as much a Might and Magic fanatic! Both games have their advantages/disadvantages.
About the racing line, I'm most looking forward for Forza Motorsport 4, after I get an Xbox (for which I'll take Skyrim too), it seems a very good racing game, and hopefully will have good online functions too, as even if I prefer single player in an RPG, I absolutely prefer multiplayer in racing games, especially if it's in an organized club! And there is rFactor 2 coming for the PC too, I'll have to wait and see if I can run it though.

To decide which one I'll like the most from these, or which one I liked from those that I've played before, is hard!

I'm going to go with "maybe"

While I do love TES and Fallout in general I think I might hold Portal 2 a little bit higher. GLADoS is boss.

Probably Mass Effect series. ME1 is the only game I've dedicated almost so much hours as with OB or MW.

A pity ME 1/2 aren't moddable. I'd still be playing them for sure.

For me oblivion is my favorite game closely followed by morrowind and then daggerfall after fallout 3. I am a Ted fan at my core. Oblivion is my favorite game ever and I KNOW Skyrim, which has fixed everything I found wrong with oblivion and added amazing new features like smithing, will beat it.

Hmmm I'm sorry to say that my favorite game is actually MW2 and hopefully MW3 coming out. I just find the challenge of stealth and sniping from real players so more invigorating than sneaking past oblivious guards and bandits. Dont get me wrong I LOVE the TES games but i just love CoD a tiny bit more

Bethesda games are by far the the ones I have spent the most time playing followed by the GTA series. Played a lot of Modern Warfare multiplayer with my friends and that was always a blast. The Zelda series is another favorite of mine although I have never played the NES games or any of the ones after Majora's Mask. Zelda is one of the reasons why I still have my N64.

Baldur's Gate series definitely takes the cake for me, first games I ever really sunk my teeth in deep with.
Fallout 3 gets a mention because I just loved the jovial bleakness of it, the tone of that game was what made it for me.
Witcher 2 for all around awesome, and the all around best game I have played recently.

Yeah. It's a shame. So many cool things could be done with ME in modding.

I've always been a Counter-Strike fan 1.6 or Source. It's always my go to game, can't wait till Global Offensive.

Lets see....

My top five are
Morrowind
Heroes of Might and Magic 2,3,4 (I love them all equally despite each's flaws)
Fallout: New Vegas
Diablo 1&2
Age of Empires

Oblivion would be under that somewhere....and CoD4 is soon in there too for sheer hours played...but they dont hold the appeal of my top five.

From what I heard about Skyrim so far, there is very little chance it will break into my top 5 like New Vegas did.

Oblivion was. (yes I hear you Morrowind [censored]. I preferred Oblivion because I felt more involved with the factions than I did in MW, thus I got multiple playthroughs instead of just one epic one)

But Fallout New Vegas stole my heart.
Guess we'll see if Skyrim can steal it back.

If I may step out of games into books, I'd say The Lord of the Rings struck my chord. Oo lala. I still read pieces of it every now and then, and when I'm at my friend's house, we sometimes chill and play that Conquest game. You know the one.

Another set of books that got me was the Galactic Milieu series. Something awesome and X-Men-esque about everyone becoming telepaths and developing a thought-bubble. Kind of like the Dwemer.

As for other games, Pokemon. It got me when I was a baby, so what can I say? It wins on nostalgia. Fire Emblem is up there, since they had the cutesy little relationship things with omigodHector killing dragons with 50+ crit. Smash Brothers is up there, because like LOTR Conquest, it was a game we'd play after a long day of classes. Street Fighter wins some nostalgia alongside it.

I guess the current game I'm all-on-about is Starcraft. Watch me blaze through the Bronze League with my 18 apm.
Nevertheless, I've spent a lot of time on The Elder Scrolls. I love reading books, and all those little libraries in Morrowind were a haven. Some were cliche, and some were basically lorefluff and filler, but others were pretty good stand-alone stories. :)

Hmm, I think the one series that holds a place in my heart above Elder Scrolls would have to be the Thief series. So many fond memories.

TES and the new Fallouts are more worlds than games to me. Games are something you finish. So no others come close.
Stuff that that is just games, dunno, Zelda has charm by the bucketload, Bioware do good narratives you can influence, but for fun in a shooter I would have to go back to the N64, Turok and Seeds of Evil. Was Bioshock a shooter? Not sure, didn't feel like one, that had atmosphere. Bethesda though, they make worlds you feel like you can reach out and touch.

My brother played that game, and he would never explain anything about the Gray Hag. Too creepy!
I think this was when the Blair Witch/ teenhorror flicks were all the rage too.

Oblivion is currently tied at the top for me....with Star Fox 64. Nostalgia factor has gotten to me, and beating that game on expert mode without losing any teammates was one of my shining achievements in gaming.

So I shall list as well
1.Oblivion/Star Fox 64
2. Super Smash Bros
3. Fallout 3

Good mix of Bethesda and old school nintendo

I voted that it was tied. I also love the Mass Effect series and most of the Final Fantasy games. I would be happy if those were the only three series I could have in my collection. I do have some other favorites, but I think these are the favorite favorites.

Still, despite saying it's tied, there are fond memories of certain TES games that are above all the others. Arena most of all, because it was my very first introduction to RPGs, and Daggerfall second, because of how much it drew me into the world and the vastness of it all.

Oblivion (Have have yet to play the others) is currently my 3rd favourite game. Just behind Shadow of the Colossus and Half Life 2.

I'd have to say the Splinter cell series was my favorite by far. And I mean the original, pandora tomorrow, and chaos theory. The rest were crap in my opinion.

Then after that i'd say Zelda then Oblivion.

Fallout 3 is up there, but I only like it because it's essentially TES post apocalyptic with guns. For me, it's more Bethesda is my favorite, and then everything else.

My list:

Tier 1 (Bethesda Tier)

1.) The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
2.) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim *
3.) Fallout 3
4.) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
5.) Fallout: New Vegas

* = I anticipate this is where Skyrim will fall on my all-time list.

Tier 2 (Non-Bethesda Favorites)

1.) NFL 2K5 / Madden NFL / NBA 2K / MLB 2K / WWE Smackdown vs. Raw sports sim titles
2.) Star Wars Galaxies
3.) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
4.) X-Men Legends series
5.) Civilization 3
6.) Battlefield 2
7.) Hitman: Codename 47 series
8.) Metal Gear / Metal Gear Solid / Metal Gear Solid 2
9.) StarCraft
10.) The Movies
