Who killed all the wildlife?

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 5:00 am

Hi all,

So I've been playing for some time now and during that time it occurred to me that I was not coming across as much wildlife in Skyrim as I did in Oblivion. I just thought that that was the way it would be ... until... I came across a Mountain Lion that was killing everything on its patch... and then some Hunters doing the same thing... then I came across a scene of carnage with dozens of animal corpses and no culprit in sight!

I'm worried for my Skyrim. All the animals will be dead in a month at this rate lol! I take it wildlife re-spawns after a given period?

P.s Don't feed the Mammoths!

I'm pretty sure wildlife will spawn everywhere you go, I seem to get enough as it is! Foxes, rabbits, wolves, lions, mammoths! The list can go on, there's plenty of wildlife, I usually just end up killing the hunters. :grad:

I'm working on my second character now ... a enviro-conscious assassin. So far, I've killed about ten roving hunters, and slaughtered hundreds of Forsworn and Bandits who poach the wildlife. I always run away from bears, wolves, mudcrabs, and sabre cats ...

And I actually noticed that it does seem to be making an impact. I run into a lot more wildlife now.

Not sure if it's just in my head, or if I'm actually having an impact on the game ... but it's fun either way :P

That's a cool way of looking at it. I did wipe out the Hunters I came across because they were just killing everything in sight. I may make that a character trait. Thanks.

I can't wait to come across a Mountain Lion trying to kill a Butterfly on its patch!

Yeah its the cursed hunters, I walked past one who had set up camp near the grasslands she was quite happily roasting some deer when all of a sudden an elk ran past... she cursed stood up drew her bow and ran off with the twang of her bow sounding, so nice of her to leave her camp unattended so I promptly opened her chest and took her gold, after all it was the least I could do!

She was a greedy thing though she already had a few pellets but was off after more in the middle of the night!

I was wondering the same thing about people. If you play long enough and psycho enough will all the cities be eventually barren?

I think my mind is made up now: Hunters must die!

I think the predators need an: am sated flag, or something like that
The Hunters could do with toning it down too: Quota filled flag, or something similar

Bring on the mods!

I don't worry about wildlife. Especially them rabbits with their behaviour.
What I am worried about is that in Markarth they still haven't properly removed the guards that are lying dead on the streets for weeks now. Talk about honoring the dead

Lol! You could gather them all up and put them into a pile outside the city as a warning.

Yes I agree, I have found a number of Hunter shacks and camps spread through the land each time I swear to avenge the fallen wildlife, I am a Ranger after all :) Bet they wouldn't be so cocky when a bow is pointed at them ;) That would be a cool idea for a mod, can you imagine a poor rabbit or elk standing up and firing a bow back at the Hunter? hahaha

Dragons also kill all the wildlife in their area when they atack. I watched one spend about 5 minutes laying waste to everything that moved west of whiterun last night... from mammoths down to mud-crabs.
