Who left the lights on!?

Post » Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:40 pm

so having watched the gameplay vids at least 10 times, I got to wondering, WHY ARE THE LIGHTS ON IN THE SKYSCraqeRS!? people are supposed to have left in fear of the aliens! and the aliens probably killed all the power-plants anyway! So why would a whole skyscraqer have all the lights on?

check this one out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeCgUzLzrZo and when the gameplay starts to roll, look at all the buildings.

I know it makes the scenery beautiful, but think logicaly! I want a reason to use that thermal and night vision!

Good question? Maybe they wanted to be nice, just one more time, for the aliens. We all know how aliens are scared of the dark ;)

Now where is that ice sphere? Is it bigger? Has it blown into a million pieces? Did it get wings and flew off into space? Is there any TVs still standing on so we can watch the news about it? And Prophet, is he the bad guy? If so why? Should i stop going off topic? - Hell yea! :D

I have a logical answer. If you look during the gameplay and the ensuing cut scene, this was during the absolute beginning of the evacuation, because of all the civilians still in the streets and limited military presense during the fight. Later in the game, these lights should be turned off as the Power Grid is likely to get shut down.

Also, this is the pinger attack, which means it's one of the first levels. The Wall Trailer shows papers saying "lost in Pinger Attack", so this attack must have happened before any real evacuation was able to take place.

I hope this clears things up. I'm surprised nobody connected the dots like I did. ;)

holy crap Talon you surprise me! this poses as an excelent answer! I must admit I did not conclude these things. if the aliens were smart enough, they would have gone to the power plants to knock them out, stupid aliens!

My guess is they're just going to retcon the entire first game.

Question,, if you have to run for your life, you ask yourselfs "Hey let me turn off the light first"? ;)

Same as if your house is on fire, you collect things what you can grab first and nah.. you dont mind the light and fall over stuff once you bail out :)

My theory was confirmed. During the stage demo Nathan says that you are in Central Station to defend the evacuation. When that happens, the evacuation is a WIP, so to speak.

When aliens attack I don't think you worry about turning the lights off.

I was actually very curious to how the assault on the Ice Sphere went with Prophet Physco and Nomad. Hopefully these and other mysteries will be unraveled. Given what we know of the aliens...they svck power so leaving those tv's on is a civilians way of spitting at the military :p
