Who liked the begining music in the Pod cast?

I can't wait to hear the whole version. I'm really looking forward to it. I really like the intro.

I adore the Skyrim theme. Everytime I hear it, all of my doubts about the game - any desire to compare it to past games, immediately extinguished. Just from the theme, you can tell Skyrim is really shaping up to be one of Bethesda's crowning achievements. It's just so skillfully done, so professional, when I hear it I know that the future of the Elder Scrolls series is in good hands. :D

Why must it be so epic? While I love the chanting, it does give the feel of a Nordish land, which is really cool. But then it builds up...I don't know. Feels forced. I like ambiance, not a big overdone song. But this is the theme so maybe I think I'll hear this exploring ruins. I personally prefer the Morrowind theme.

How have you guys not already heard it? It's the music that was in the official teaser, plus it's a bit of a stripped down version that was in the Sounds of Skyrim thing.

This.

Its supposed to sound epic, grittier, harsher. This is the lands of the rough and tough nords we are talking about, this aint mamby pamby cyrodil. Also, if people translated the Gameinformer cover, there are lyrics to the last bit of the music which are :

Spoiler
Dovahkiin Dovahkiin
Naal ok zin los vahriin
Wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal
Ahrk fin norok paal graan
Fod nust hon zindro zaan
Dovahkiin Fah hin kogaan mu draal

I personally really like it

I quite like the introduction of the chanting myself, also a real ear worm and has been going though my mind for a while now.

I liked it of course. I don't know how you have not seen the teaser trailer yet. The exact same song is in it. The real best Skyrim song is in the Sounds of Skyrim dev video. The one that sounds a lot like Morrowind but with a choir and then Dovahkiin! Dovahkiin! Then it stops. I was singing that all the way home from school today :P

I absolutely love the new song for Skyrim. It sounds like strong men getting ready for warfare. There is no way that the music can be interpreted to be an emotionally pretty song like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya5ICVKUERg. It has a very robust and swarthy feeling, I just love it.

However after thinking about it Greig's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrIYT-MrVaI&feature=related might fit in certain parts of Skyrim... who knows!

The beginning is very epic, as we all know from the trailer. But the track at the end of the interview was spectacular! :trophy:

I really like it.

However, to be honest, I really really like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H7kjsRQG-k&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL Takes all the themes from Morrowind's to Oblivion's to Skyrim's. It's sweet.

I do like that little part of it where we get a sprinking of the Oblivion theme before it cracks on and really becomes its own. There's a great balance there between connecting with its predecessors and defining itself as an individual and unique game. I think it's the chanting that really does it for me- as others have said, it's that Nordic, rough and tough feel that I think it seems we're going to be getting a lot of with Skyrim.

I'm loving the new theme. It conjures up images of snowy tundra and warm taverns, chocked full of beer drinking fighting men. It's cool.

I think the part at the end is better

I like the Morrowind theme best, then Oblivion. That Skyrim music isn't bad, but it's not really that great either. :/ I hope it isn't the main theme. D: Hopefully that is a shortened cut down version made for the trailer, and the actual main menu theme will be a bit better.

The soundtrack will be composed of many different themes, I'm sure. And it was used in the trailer, which was trying to convey a sense of epicness and history, battles and dragons. Surely they wouldn't choose Enya for that. The end of the interview has an outstanding score in the likes you've mentioned.

It floats my boat. The beginning music is so epic (I got a shiver when the choir picked up the main theme :D ) and it really captures the vibe of a harsh rugged land of nords being threatened by a Dragon God.
The end track on the podcast is in perfect contrast: it maintains the dreamy feel of Morrowind's soundtrack that I thought was sadly absent from Oblivion's music, but with that harsh Skyrim twist.
I think the soundtrack alone just sold me the game :liplick:

Well, it's certainly sold itself at least, I'd happily buy it and listen all day long. :hubbahubba:

I loved the music. It has a great mythic feel and doesn't remind me of Wagner, which is a good thing.

I've really liked all the TES music since Morrowind. However, the Daggerfall shop music still haunts my nightmares. :o

I have been a bit negative on Skyrim as well, and you are correct. After listening to this, I have great hope for it now. :D

I liked the ending music even more than the beginning.

It conjured to mind those helicopter shots they uses in movies to get a bird's eye view of the scene. And this scene was a war torn medieval country with thick fog blanketing the land and crumbling architecture built into the sides of mountains. Slowly approaching some epic thing, faster and faster. Only to be cut off without showing you what it was.
