Hey guys,

I went back to highpoint tower earlier a few days ago ( I was looking for Skaal armour) and I walked into the jail area and noticed there was a redguard lady called Niyya sleeping on a bedroll in one of the cells. I unlocked it and upon speaking to her, she woke up and greeted me with the generic ' need something?'. After I stoped bothering her, she went backinside the cell and fell asleep... Who is she? Is there a quest related to her? ( UESP just says shes a sorceress living in Highpoint tower).

That's odd - when I approached the door she was pleading to be rescued. I opened the gate and she started walking jogging towards the exit. I lost track of her until I finished the quest and left, and she appeared outside after the loading screen. Never saw her after that.

Maybe, its because I never found her the first time?

In my game Niyya has returned to Ravenrock and can now be found in the retching Netch.

Did you free her during the quest for Neloth, or did you discover the place she was held captive in by accident?
Maybe her usual dialogue is not triggered, if she's released from prison too early (pre-quest).

My money is on this. She normally tells you about how she was captured with the rest of her team or whatever, and that she's the last alive.

she's connected to a quest for neloth...once you start the quest she'll thank you for saving her from her captor who's in the same location

She's nothing special to be honest.
I think she's just one of those "Moral Choice" kind of Encounters. Save her; be the Good guy, Leave her; be the Bad guy.
She does shed some info on Ildaril or whatever the Rogue Telvanni Mage is called. Only a Little though.
