Who's playing the previous TES games before release?

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 12:25 am

i'm the official forum pervert, and i sure as hell am playing the previous games. i can't stand the wait, so it's the least i can do.
who else is playing through the TES series? if so what is the last character you are playing as in your last playthrough(for a while at least) in the game?

I'm currently in the process of beating Oblivion again (Already done the main questline, shivering isles, knights of the knine). I just need to go back and do all the other quest and guild quest. Then I'll probably re-play morrowind on PC and maybe try playing daggerfall and arena.

I really can't play Arena anymore, but I'm thinking of revisiting Daggerfall for mod inspiration.

I'm going to 'let's play' Daggerfall on my blog during the buildup to Skyrim, but I haven't created my character yet. Probably a Nord or Dark Elf with an improbably heroic-sounding name.

I plan on playing some new Oblivion characters, re-inventing my main character of Morrowind and replaying through the main quest and the Tribunal main quest. I've already beaten Redguard, and I have Battlespire waiting for me. Daggerfall started crashing at specific points that wouldn't allow me to progress, so I might have to start all over if I can't find a fix for that. I don't think I'll play Arena though. I've made it out of the starter dungeon but that's as far as I think I'll go. Arena lacks a lot of the things that makes me love the series, and I feel like I already know the plot.

I'm also planning on learning how to mod Oblivion and releasing an Ayleid dungeon/quest mod.

All before Skyrim comes out. Combine that with real life stuff, and I have plenty to keep me busy. Too much, maybe.

I've already played through Arena again and put a hundred or so hours into another Daggerfall character. I probably won't "finish" the game with that character, but I feel finished with him. I always do that with Daggerfall.
Been trying to play Redguard, as I've never done it before, but I'm having a hard time getting into it, despite the awesome protagonist and setting.

I've never stopped playing Morrowind and Oblivion, though I did do the main quest of Morrowind for the first time in a few years.

I'm going to make an assumption that story is pretty important to you, and say that Redguard's story gets a lot better and more interesting as it goes along. It also has some of the most satisfying moments in the whole series, in my opinion.

Correct assumption.
Well, with that encouragement, I suppose I'll get around to it then.

@Sofus: Yeah, they're free now, here's the links.

Arena is pretty dated, and only really worth playing if you love hack&slash dungeon dives, or are a massive TES fan.

Daggerfall, on the other hand, has held up really well, and if you can get past its age it's still a massive, rich, complicated game that equals any of the later TES games in the scope of world and gameplay, in my opinion.

Going to for sure play through Oblivion again, might mess around on Morrowind just to do bloodmoon to get closer to the atmosphere.

I am currently playing Morrowind for the first time... the announcement of Skyrim gave me the motivation to go back in the series :D It's a shame I already know the main quest though, read a walkthrough once because I thought I would never play it...

I am also planning 2 more characters in Oblivion, and have to finish the one I have right now, before Skyrim comes out.

Playing Morrowind and Oblivion. The thing is, I'm playing them all the time, not just now to keep myself busy till Skyrim is out.

Anyone else building a lineage for their future Skyrim character? I am rocking the Nord family name in Morrowind and Oblivion.

I'll probably recomplete Nehrim once before Skyrim is out, then maybe revisit Morrowind.
