Who reads the books?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:51 pm

I actually read a lot of them and find them quite interesting. That is one are where they definitely put a lot of time into creating. In most RPG's the books have a line or two in them, these books actually have quite a bit of info in them. They are interesting for sure...

I read the books that are interesting and relative to the character I'm playing.
One collects books, while another is a bandit brute who doesn't really give much for letters.:)

I would say about 50% of the books. Every questbook is read, even it is only a journal, skillbooks not so much, unless the title and the first paragraph catches my attention (e.g. Marksman Lessons).

I read some if the books I come across, but far from all. Books that deal with vampires, werewolves and factions are my favorites. Any suggestions(you know, without spoiling where I can find them)?

Likewise.

Totems of Hircine and Lycanthropic Legends of Skyrim is found in Jorrvaskr( the companions headquarters.) Physycalities of werewolves can be found in autumnwatch tower. Immortal Blood can be found in Alva's house in Morthal(You have to steal it). The free version of Immortal Blood can be found in Broken-Fang cave.

I only read the very practical books like exploration sights of Skyrim, how to kill and not be killed, or those relating to ancient ruins I can visit or mysteries in the game world. I rarely look at the pure story fiction titles outside of picking up a potential skill point and closing it.

I wish there were some books that functioned like the NPC Angi for example who provides archery practice in the real world for actual skill points by way of practical use. I mean a book that set a series of actual tests to try out as a quest objective that boosted a skill more than once. If that makes sense.

Strange I know… lol.

Ive actually downloaded the full set of books onto my kindle so I read them at bedtime, I find I can concentrate on the stories and information in them better, and leaves me more time to do what I want in the game.

Haha. I do the same but on my iPhone. So I rarely bother reading them in game.

I read books if they have a particularly interesting topic, which ends up being "I read the occasional book I find". Usually when I'm playing a video game I'm not in the mood to read much.

Still collecting all of the Mystery of Talara series, I will read those when I get all of them.

I picked 75% because I've read close to 98% of the books in Morrowind and some of those carried over into Oblivion and Skyrim so I don't need to read those again.
Usually I don't read most of the books while going through my first playthrough, but when I'm done or bored, I will sit there and read them (including journals and notes). And by read I mean actually reading the books, not just "reading" the books to flag a quest or get a skill up.I like to learn the lore in the game, so reading the books in Morrowind helped me to learn about the plane of Oblivion. That's why I got excited when TES IV:Oblivion was announced because I knew what was going to be in it beforehand.Or at least had some idea.

I used to not read books, but after reading some comments on the forums I felt I was missing out on the immersion that they offer, so I've been forcing myself to read at least a few each time I play. I'm really enjoying the Wolf Queen series.

I just wish the books had more illustrations and fancier fonts. It's pretty obvious that they are just written in Notepad and then given an old-timey font. Books from this era are supposed to look like this, unless they are journals:

I haven't read all the books because at first it always seems like a chore tbh, but every book I've read has been well written in terms of style and content, and nearly every book has provided insights for gameplay strategies and vastly improved the depth, power, and interconnectivity of the lore.

I read some of them when i feel like it, very rarely though.
Especially if it's about creatures or something. Did read the Real Barenzia in Oblivion tho, and to my suprise, it's acually pretty decent.

Some books are very good like "Imortal Blood" By Anonymous. Others are very boring like most of skyrim quests. I grab everyone i got and throw in my house to read later.

I want to read all the books in the game at some point. I've been collecting them on my bookshelf only to find out the bookshelf has got bugged. I read them about 75 percent of the time I'd say.
