Who's in the Cut-scenes?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:42 am

I know that when a cut-scene is played, either at the beginning or at the end of a game,
the characters will be the actual characters that we have edited ourselves, (the bug, the anger, etc.)
But how does it decide which person is in a cut scene?
does Every person see it differently, with their own character as the star?

Who is gonna be in MY cut scene? (other than me)
does it just choose randomly?

I hope that cut-scenes are specific to a location, so only include those who actually completed it are shown
like if I am off capturing a command post,
but the game ends and it shows me escorting the prisoner in the cut-scene
that wouldn't make sense.

does anybody know (or have a good guess) how this kind of thing is going to be decided?

When you play with people they are in the cutscene if bots then the bots are with you.

I forgot where I read it, depending on the cut scenes, it'll be your character and whom ever else is playing with you at the time, if the cut scene does a group shot or something.

I love it when games do things like that. Really helps with immersion and atmosphere.

And if you play single-player from beginning to end, the same bots will stick with you the whole time.

That's a nice feature. And OP, I read that whoever the host is plays the squad commander in cutscenes. In singleplayer, of course, that'll always be you.

since you can choose an accent it would be cool if during a cut scene your character would talk with that accent. even if I'm watching a cut scene and an accent somebody chose for their character was used when their character talked

I'm almost certain the accent would be used.

I remember a video where this one Heavy guy had the deepest, most derpyist voice ever. I'm totally going to use that accent.

I would really like a Mexican accent for one of my guys, but generic Latino/Spanish should do.

I am kind of curious to see what the accents are. Definitely sounds like it is going to be international, I remember reading that the lead art designer was asking for slang and curse words from all of the members of the studio to use as spraypaint and vandalism in the maps.

Lol I just pictured a spray of "Chupale, pendejo!" on a random wall.

Would be really odd if accents didn't apply to cut-scenes. Otherwise, your character could have a Jamaican accent in game, but then suddenly switch to British or something.

I'm sure your character's voice would be the same but I mean that other human players' character's voices match the cut scenes when/if their character talks. Theres really no way to know if its right but it would be a really cool feature and would make watching the cut scenes more interesting.

but which people would it be?
just random or would it fit all of them in?

there's only 8 people so i assume they could all get into one scene

I heard the game's host will be the star in the cutscenes. At least on console.

wouldn't the star be yourself most of the time?
since you are playing your own story
everyone will have themselves as the star and the other players will just be randomly cast

No matter which side they play on the characters will be getting their intel and taking their orders from somebody, so I'm thinking that there will be at least one static figure throughout the cut-scenes. The leader of each faction, or a commanding officer maybe?

probably,
i remember them saying something about voice accents that only they can have, but not your player

African accent, not Jamaican. There are differences among black folk. :)

As it stands, the game doesn't offer an "African" accent, but only a "Jamaican".

So apparently your team is in the cutscene. Sounds interesting. I'm not sure how the multiplayer campaign thing is going to work out. Doesn't seem like it would be much fun after you play through 30 times. Hopefully it will be though.

From the videos, the securities commanding officer and the russian sounding guy in the grey tang top that was with the Resisties seem to be leaders and consistent. So most likely, I'm just assuming too, that the other characters in the cut-scenes are bots and created avatars. Their accents are probably randomized for bots, while the avatars will speak in the accents we choose for them. This is just one big guess, but it's possible,no?
